Lady in Red

Red Bougainvillea

Red Bougainvillea

The Debut of Miss B. Villea

For years she waited in the wings

Till finally one day she sings!

“We all had wondered where you were?”

Her radiant cousin asked of her.

“Eugenia overshadowed me,”

She said, “As you can plainly see.

My journey only first begun

The moment I could reach the sun!”

post script: The answer to yesterday’s quiz –

Geena Davis says, “Life is pain – You just get used to it!” in the excellent movie, “The Long Kiss Goodnight” 1996, with Samuel L. Jackson and Craig Bierko.

Mid-Western Plant Girl and Quiall share the 100 bonus points, for knowing the answer without the help of google. Congratulations! And thank you to those who participated. I award you some points too – plenty to go around!

post post script: Thank you all for your kind words yesterday. Many of you have chronic pain, that isn’t going to ease up in a day or two, which puts my “self-inflicted” mishap to shame. My Dad was in constant back pain from slipped discs, so I grew up being aware of that and I sympathise with you.

Also, no-one denied yesterday’s title – “No sicf fi! You’re not a blithering idiot!” haha How well you know me!Β

Thank you. They can grow quite big even from a pot I believe πŸ™‚ My plants are best left alone in the garden for nature to take its course – the less I have to do with them, the greater their chances πŸ™‚

For sure! Though it seems to be par for the course for my garden! The azalea took 10 years to bloom, and the camellia 20 years to really get going! I just kept watering the plants, as they had green leaves, then suddenly one year they decided to really blossom πŸ™‚ So it was worth all the waiting πŸ™‚

I planted two bougainvillea bushes at the same time, tho the pink was was much bigger and cost 4 times the price of the red one. The pink one was in full sun and flourished. It is massive now (Photos at a later date) The red one did not get enough sun and did not flower for years, as she was in the shade of a large Eugenia tree. This is the first year I have had so many red flowers πŸ™‚
