The first pink blush of youth –
Fades and withers under the searing heat of the African sun – like the rest of us poor creatures living here.
Dual effect on a floribunda rose bush, where the deep pink new blooms stand out against the paler, withering old roses.
Has beens.
So, I know which I am – which are you?
There are occasionally pictures that capture flowers so well I think I can smell them. This is one. 🙂 I bet they smell so sweet!!

It has taken decades for this rose bush to get this big. My daughter planted it, so I can’t take any credit! 🙂

Oh wow! Congrats!:) The rose bush finally got this big!!! I’m sure it takes a lot of time and efforts to take care of this rose bush ❤ Your daughter must be a fan of planting and big credit to her 😉

Yes – she has the green fingers! But if I keep watering my plants – for decades – then eventually they get their roots down to the water table and can look after themselves!! 🙂

If I were an oak tree I would be a sweet young thing. If I were a tortoise I would be an adolescent. I’m still in the process of ‘being’ but the blush is definitely a distant memory. But what a memory!

I think I have to award you bonus points for the best answer 😀 Age is your state of mind, and there is no reason for that to wither!

What a full bloom !! ❤ My rose plant is yet to produce season's 1st blossom,no thanks to the ants 😦

Hmm – I’m wondering what the ants have done? Maybe they were after aphids on the plant? Don’t give up tho, your rose bush may surprise you yet 🙂

No aphids, only ants, found it too late after it started drying up but still waiting for a miracle ….

Aw- maybe it will bloom again next spring? tho roses do like to keep their roots moist. Fingers crossed 🙂
