Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Wow! There was quite a response to yesterday’s question: Do you see lilac or pink flowers?

Basically, I have this plant growing in a large pot on my stoep. It belongs to my daughter Pix, and just looks after itself, year after year. Now and then it produces these lovely lilac (ahem) flowers, so of course, I took a nice photo. And just to make the post a little more fun than simply saying, “Here are some pretty flowers”, I asked the above question.

Lilac or Pink?

Lilac or Pink?

Firstly, I should have been a little more specific. I meant the petals, not the red centre. And I suppose my photo may look different on another laptop or a phone, as some interesting alternatives were offered for the colour of the petals: mauve, lavender, flamingo pink, white; and the centre of the flowers: red, cerise, dark pink.

There is no right or wrong answer. I was just interested to find out how you saw the colour. (Ady wrote a post about colour a short while back. You can read about it here.) Also to settle an ongoing debate between my daughter DD and myself. I say Lilac. She says Pink.

So here are the results…

Lilac 5              Both Lilac And Pink 2           Pink 8

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for their perceived colour. It was neck and neck for quite a while, but pink just tipped the balance at the end.

Yes, I shall show these results to my daughter. Though it’s hardly necessary, as she knows she’s right!
