When I took this photo I caught the low, early morning sunrise bathing the trees with yellow light and highlighting that autumn is right around the corner.
It was just last week; the end of February!
You have to be quick to catch autumn in Cape Town. Many of the trees are evergreen, like this Eugenia, so don’t hint that winter is on the way.
Others, like my neighbour’s deciduous tree, advertise quite clearly that summer is drawing to a close.
Autumn is fleeting here. Next time you look, the branches will be bare, and all the leaves will be in your swimming pool!
Crazy weather seems to be the tone for this season, be it almost fall or spring. Stay cool!!

I love the colours of autumn. It was autumn when we arrived here and now it’s spring. The trees are still bare but I can see buds π

I am still amazed that SA has same weather seasons as my sis in NZ. She hates the cold and loves spring and autumn ( I tend to call it Fall Season like Americans) π

Thank you π It doesn’t get cold in CT – tho in other parts of SA it can reach -10C sometimes. I think of SA weather like Australia? π

the sunlight on the leaves is beautiful. Spring is around the corner where I am- although we had a surprised snowfall yesterday.

Thank you π Winter can do that to you – suddenly throw some snow your way when you think it is nearly spring π

Here we are digging out from the snow and the killing cold looking for new buds to show.

Yes π We all look for the next season after a long winter/summer! 40C scheduled for tomorrow here!

Wow Autumn, Winter is still progressing quite viciously here in the United States. All of us in this area are wishing for Spring to appear.

Well, it isn’t really autumn – but the trees don’t seem to know that! We have 40C scheduled for tomorrow! π

18 days to go until the official start of Spring in the UK. Our roadside verges are full of snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils, and the opening arms of the trees along the dog walk are in bud. Wish it was warmer now though! With the wind chill today temps are ‘real feel’ of 4 or five degrees below zero.

It’s so interesting (to me) to read posts from 1/2 a world away. You’re hanging on to summer and I’m pushing for spring. Will we ever meet in the middle? Haha!

I know what you mean, but am pretty used to it, since I Used to live in the North! We will have a few days in spring/autumn which will seem similar.
Actually I am not hanging on to summer – I can’t wait for it to go already! 40C tomorrow, and fires raging out of control all over the Cape π¦ Maybe you’ll even see on your news??

I don’t watch a bunch of tv, let alone news. Always so sad! π’ Here in the US, the media will push a socialite’s sex video before real news. So, no, no news of your fires. We get fires on the west coast yearly. It’s just mother nature giving herself a face mask!

That is usually the case here too – natural mountain fires needed for the proteas to be able to grow. However, this time I’m not sure what started the fires – in unusual places. Hopefully not arson, or carelessness!

Must be really tough having a swimming pool. π¦ I am as eager to welcome spring as you are to autumn. Some of last autumn’s leaves are still clinging to branches. We need a good strong wind to get rid of them.

haha Yes it is so hard having a pool! π
Funny you still have some leaves on trees!

They aren’t green leaves. Just old dead ones still clinging. The new growth can be seen if one squints one’s eyes. They will push them off soon.
