Chalk and Cheese

LM and SL

I have noticed over the years with my different dogs, that they all have a preferred way of sleeping. The older ones with short coats could curl themselves up into the tiniest ball and I would throw a blanket over them in winter. Jack loved this.

The long-haired dogs tended to stretch themselves out as much as possible, taking up the whole mattress, and presumably trying to keep cool. Lady excelled at this.

However, I saw a new first when I went into the kitchen at 2 a.m. this morning to make a cup of decaff coffee. Understandably, my dogs were fast asleep. But what was funny, was how they slept.

Little Monkey was sprawled all over her comfy bed, with her head hanging off the end and on the kitchen tiles!

Mr Spaghetti Legs always “makes” his bed; so his mattress was in the middle of the floor, with the top cover strewn elsewhere. But he seemed to have missed the point of a comfy bed, because, while his head and all four paws were on the bed, the rest of his body was on the cold hard kitchen floor!

He is…however he is very very naughty. He takes out toothbrushes from visitor’s bag. Chews them, never gives them back πŸ˜›

hehe πŸ™‚ I couldn’t actually take a photo – because I didn’t want to wake everyone up finding my camera – and the dogs soon woke up once they realised the light was on! πŸ™‚

Mags just likes to be comfy, either spread out or curled up. We call the latter ‘foxing it’, and have other sleeping positions named as ‘titanic’ (one foot in th air, slides down as sleep comes only to be pushed up again, to slide down etc etc), and pure bliss (tummy uppermost, back legs spread, front legs tucked against the chest). At the moment? Tucked in against my hip, all four feet tucked under her chin.:)

Great shots and interesting story! πŸ™‚
At night, I partly cover our little Shih Tzu with a blanket, as she sleeps in her little bed adjacent to our bed. She then makes a little grunting noise — as if to say “thank you” — and returns back to sleep! In the living room, last night, I was hugging her a lot as she rested, curled up on a fluffy dog pillow-bed.
    Dogs rock!

They say women’s minds are inscrutable! Dogs and cats are more inscrutable! My cats liked to sleep with their heads resting on a wooden box. But they’re soooo adorable!

Hahaha this is exactly how my cats sleep also…Sometimes, I have a hard time understanding how they sleep like that. To us (humans), it’s not comfortable at all. However, I bet SL and LM were still looking very cute in their sleep πŸ˜›

When my daughter brings her dog for a visit, she always brings this special blanket. Juan pokes and picks at the coverlet and gets it just right before taking a nap. Of course I do the same. πŸ™‚
