OK so probably no-one is interested – but I’m gonna ramble anyway.

The last few weeks my internet has become soooooooooo slow during working hours! Because other people in the house require what little there is for more important things than blogging (I know!) I have to write most of my blog posts at the weekend, and schedule them each day.

Early in the morning, before the web gets blocked up, I open my blog site and quickly scan my WP reader. I like posts that I – well Like! Those I want to read in more depth, or Heaven forbid, actually comment on, I click to open in a new Tab, to read later in the day. Half the time photos don’t load in my reader. I can only guess how beautiful the picture actually is – until after 6pm.

Those of you who have set your posts to show only a few lines, and require that I load your blog to read the rest – well you’re also going to have to wait till the end of the day.

So if you have noticed that I have liked one of your posts, but only commented on it half a day later, then this is the reason why. The same applies to replying to comments in my notifications. The wheel just keeps on spinning!

So it is frustrating, but it is what it is.

Just thought I’d let you guys know, that I haven’t stopped thinking about you, and I haven’t stopped wanting to comment. Just that it is sometimes impossible to do so!

 

post script: It is really exciting – (well for me anyway!) My stats are sitting at 9984 views. Who is going to be the lucky 10,000th visitor?

    Congrats on the 10M views! I was thinking about the view thing, ie making you click to go to the site. I don’t like that myself. I also read on my phone and it doesn’t do that. Have you thought about using your phone, if you do the smart phone thing, that is. I highly recommend it.

      haha Thanks for the tip 🙂 I have a 4th hand very old i-phone, doesn’t even show my photos when I read my emails! So pretty much I am stuck.
      I also thought (for a millisecond) about Making people visit my blog – after all WP suggests it as a way of getting more hits! But it’s so frustrating when you have slow internet – so I left it as my whole post in the reader, like you 🙂

      If you go to ‘My Site’ (in the top bar next to your Reader when you log in) you should see the new stats page with views, visitors, likes etc. Right at the bottom of this page is a link to visit the ‘old’ stats page – where you will find a Total number of views also.
      Alternatively, go to the dashboard and click ‘site stats’. This will also show you the Total.
      I have added this to my Blog page, so I can see it all the time.

        Oh No! It really isn’t a popularity contest! I blog for fun 🙂 A guy who started his blog the same time as me has over 10,000 followers and hundreds of thousands of hits!
        I just thought it was fun to watch the numbers roll over. Yes, I am the one in the car watching for all those fun mileages!! 😀

    I so understand. Fortunately I am an early riser and attend to business before everyone gets on. The weekends are a disaster. I rarely get to watch anything like videos on line. I really wonder what I am paying for. 😦 My time doesn’t call me away for anything else, so I just sit here and make up silly rhymes while waiting and waiting and waiting.

    I have my site set to display just a summary via email, sorry! I changed it recently because I sometimes edit posts after publishing (usually to remove typos and things) and I didn’t want a copy of the original floating around in someone’s inbox.

      Ah – I understand. There are others in my reader who do the same.
      Most people have working internet, so it’s not a problem! Though I can only see ours getting worse before it gets better. 🙂

    Congrats on 9984 views!! A milestone indeed *claps and gives a standing ovation ☺
    Sad to hear of your internet woes but true true this happens when I am in Bintan or Batam islands of Indonesia or vastness of lands like Australia and China.
    Thankfully my little red dot has super highways of optic fibres…4G networks that lightning speeds but we are clogging up too as the quantum of users are well..huge! Fully understand your frustrations. Hope SA CT improves it soon for you folks there☺

    Am I 10000th !!!! 😀 Congratulations 😀 😀 😀 Few more months and it will add one more zero in end 🙂 We know and understand how internet speeds are each day,even subscribing to 3G internet,and during work hours it becomes a snail ! Thanks to your post/suggestion,I have started minimizing file-size too 😀

      I just checked – you are 4 away from 10,000!! So maybe if your reply to this! You will win! 😀 hehe
      It’s taken me nearly a year to get here, so I think another decade to get to the Hundred thousand! 😉
      Yes, downsizing my photos def helped. We have uncapped internet!!! Whatever that means – because at the end of the day there are too many people in SA trying to be online all at the same time and we “Bottle-neck”.
      Oh well, I’ll trundle on! Now to write some posts for next week! 🙂

        Added together the total count does become 150s and 8k 😀 😀 😀 Last few months I have been more out than in, that’s why a bit of distance has occurred throughout 🙂
