Bonsai

Little Bonsai bush held up to the sky. Poor thing, with its twisted branches.

I don’t care for Bonsai plants; those poor trees crippled in tiny pots; only able to grow as a stunted specimen of their free giant brothers.

My sister once bought my mother a Bonsai tree in a little pot. I was horrified!

But don’t worry! This is really a full-sized tree. It just grows with curly branches, enhanced by careful pruning.

This tree indeed looks bonsai shaped !!! I always assumed bonsai plants are dwarf because they are of that variety, but now is it true that normal potential trees are actually stunted from beginning to become bonsai !! It’s terrible !

Yes. Unfortunately, Bonsai plants are cultivated to remain small thro pot confinement and crown and root pruning. 😦
It is just my opinion on this. Lots of people like Bonsai and think it is an amazing skill to do this.

You made me rethink Bonsai trees and seeing it in your eyes. Yes…in a way cruel as the tree is deliberately stunted. Yet it is the tenacity with which the tree struggles to survive that process and the gnarly roots make it more priceless! Interesting view that made me think differently. Thank you!😊

Sorry – didn’t mean to offend. I do realise they are unique and difficult to grow, but we all have our own opinions. I think Basset Hounds are like Bonsai dogs too! Oops – there I go offending someone else! πŸ™‚
