Mimsy Gets a Makeover

Mimsy gets a makeover 1

Mimsy 1

When my daughter DD was a youngster, she won a soft hand made toy rabbit in a school raffle.Β Named Mimsy, she has lived in my daughter’s room ever since the time she was brought home.

Now, many years later, this little rabbit was sorely in need of a wash.

The body and clothes dried quite quickly, but the batting took forever to dry, even in the hot SA sunshine.

Spotless and ironed.

All the clothes too.

Now the long process of stuffing Mimsy back to life begins.

Just ready for the wardrobe.

Finally, Mimsy resplendent, back on the bed where she belongs.

And that’s how Mimsy got a makeover!

      Thank you πŸ™‚
I’m sure they’d think I’d reached my second childhood – if they could have seen the washing line! But we all have them in the back gardens, out of view of the street πŸ™‚

It was a lot more work than I anticipated, to get Mimsy really white again. And the stuffing just wouldn’t dry!! But like you say, worth it to see her looking brand new again πŸ™‚

I washed the stuffing in a large bucket with OMO washing powder, and some bleach! Lots of rinsing – and then days and days of drying in the sunshine! πŸ™‚

Thank you so much Sci πŸ™‚ I always got scary to open it up with the worry, I may not be able to put it back again the same way but now I feel confident πŸ˜€

It will be fine! If Tigger is quite large, like Mimsy, then I suggest you keep the stuffing for the head and body separate from the arms and legs (like I did) so you know how much should go where! πŸ™‚

I lurrrrve Mimsy….just like my inanimate furball Garfield. It is great you can remove cottony stuffing you refer to as “batting” (new word for me LOL!)….a mouse too…Garfield’s “friend”…Good job Sci! Well done!

It took me quite a while to get Mimsy clean! I tried first without removing the stuffing, but it wasn’t working. I needed to bleach the body to get her really white again. But she looks fine again in the end πŸ™‚
