Puppy Love

Puppy 1

I was lucky enough to ‘puppy-sit’ again this week. Though it was only five days since I last did so, my friend’s pup, Spunk, was even more confident!

“Here’s looking at you, kid!” Spunk assesses the situation when she first arrives. Unlike my own dogs Little Monkey and Mr Spaghetti Legs, Spunk doesn’t know about the biped with the clicky thing.

However, 25 minutes of looking after this little bundle of energy and my husband and I were exhausted! Fortunately, my friend H had left a chew for the puppy, so I got that out and peace reigned for a while.

Chewing on this tired the little mite out and she finally curled up on the bed I had made for her, cradling her favourite toy, and went to sleep.

When my friend came to collect Spunk, I asked if she minded if Little Monkey came inside for a minute to say hello.

Puppy 6 – Woken up and recharged for more mischief

Totally unaware of the puppy, LM bounced in, all happy to see my friend H. Spunk bounced up to LM, all happy to see another dog. And LM did a double take and jumped out of her fur!

With eyes as wide as saucers LM then tried to get away from this little puppy by trotting round the house, with Spunk right on her tail. Remember Spunk barely comes up to LM’s knees!

But Little Monkey is an anxious dog, unsocialised until we got her at 18 months, and Spunk is confident and dominant. Size means nothing to dogs; it is all about attitude.

In the end, I took pity on the old girl, and picked the pup up so LM could say hello to H. Then I opened the door for LM to go outside again; which she couldn’t do fast enough!

I was hoping to get a photo of LM and Spunk together so you could see their respective sizes. In a few months, as Spunk grows up into the Deerhound/Greyhound that she is, she will begin to dwarf old LM.

But there was no way LM was gonna sit still by this little dynamo. Maybe when she’s a little older. So here is a photo of Spunk, curled up by my shoe, so you can see her tiny size at the moment.

Lucky you Sci got to ‘puppy sit’ Spunk again!!! 😉 She is way too adorable and very photogenic ❤ I can totally see why your husband and you become so exhausted looking after this little energetic puppy 😛 But well I'm sure it is worth it 😛

How old is the pup? There is so much growing on here it isn’t funny! I know the thoughts of LM in this situation, “Holy crap! What is that thing? Get it off, off, off! Its touching me! Help!” 😉

Thanks 🙂 She’s going to be marvellous – because her Mum, my friend H, will put in all the hours needed to make it happen. 🙂
And I get to cuddle her now and then 🙂

Great shots of Spunk! I was eagerly waiting for you to baby sit puppy again
Poor LM…I could visualise Spunk being spunky and giving LM a scare. Loved the poses Spunk gave you and your great photo takes. Loved this and thanks for the share 😊

Thank you so much 🙂 I’m afraid a lot of photos were blurry, but it was a case of Quick take the shot, before Madam was up to her tricks again! 🙂
And poor LM – she sure was messed up before I got her 😦

Thank you 🙂 It is on-going with poor LM. She looks fine, but really isn’t! But – she’s fine at home with us, which is what matters most 🙂 And I will be taking her to dog socialisation classes forever!! – 8 years and counting!
Have a lovely evening and weekend 🙂

A kind hearted you indeed! Not only do you adopt abandoned pets but you rehab them. Am very proud of you Sci!! Have a terrific Saturday ahead. Loads of Garfield Hugs 💕on behalf of abandoned woofies. 😊

    She’s so sweet!
I know what you mean about size though. When Maggie was tiny, we took her to a popular park where many people exercised their dogs, and we couldn’t have timed it better, as every dog she met was slightly larger than the last: yorkies, westies, JRTS, spaniels, collies, labradors, dalmations, dobermans and back at the car, a family of black newfoundlands! She found it great fun to run between their legs and hang off their tails. It came as no surprise to find her playing quite happily with three mastiffs a month or so later.

Wonderful 🙂 And what great owners you are – to expose little Maggie to all these new dogs from an early age 🙂 (It is what LM missed out on )

Thanks! We tried to introduce her to as many city life things as we could when she was small. Most of the early outings were spent inside Hubby’s coat which is probably why she goes to him when she’s unsure about anything. We somehow managed to overlook horses and trains though. Horses were resolved on Weston Super Mare beach (his nose was bigger than her and she was fine, even when he snorted at her), but trains we just avoid altogether as they were too fast and too much for her.

I have enjoyed having her around so much 🙂 I probably won’t be needed any more once my friend’s dogs get used to the new pup, and the pup herself grows some more.
