Lavender’s Blue

Lavender's Blue

Lavender’s Blue

Lavender’s blue, dilly, dilly

Lavender’s green

When you are king, dilly, dilly

I shall be queen

Lavender's Green

Lavender’s Green

I remember singing this as a kid. Did you? For the real lyrics, see Lavender’s blue.

And to listen to a pleasant rendition of the old nursery rhyme, try here, Cinderella.

I’m pretty sure this lavender was already in bloom when my daughter bought it, but we don’t have much luck generally with lavender – her old one shrivelled up and died!

I’m really a horribly negligent blog neighbor, for which I apologize. It’s all I can manage to publish an occasional blog post. I do get out and visit the neighborhood once in a while, though. Wish I could do it more often.

Really, don’t worry. 🙂 I know exactly what you mean. We all wish we had more time for blogging! It’s just nice to pop by each other now and then 🙂

I too remember this song 🙂 The blue in your lavenders is very pretty. I find taking photos of blue flowers most difficult. I have one plant that have tiny, deep blue blossoms, but in my photos they have a turquoise color.

Thank you 🙂 That’s strange that the colour changes. I took these photos last night in dim light, maybe that helped?

It is surprising that we do! When my kids were little and I started singing these old rhymes again, they just came back to me. I guess they are a powerful childhood memory 🙂
