Swan

Swans 1

Swans 1

Haiku 12

Milky white archways

Royally inscrutable

Not an ugly duck

Just a big chicken!

Swans 2

Do you think these swans know they belong to the Queen? They certainly look regal enough, swanning around.

My friend and I fed a large flock of swans (with special swan food!) on the River Thames. I’d never seen so many swans altogether before. It was a wonderful sight.

I can’t write a post about swans without leaving you with some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear: The Swan by Saint-Seans.

Thank you very much πŸ™‚ I was very happy with the photos when I looked at them after. It was as if the swans had posed specially πŸ™‚
By the way, your visits don’t always show up for me. I think it is because you don’t have a Gravatar picture? – I have noticed this with others too.
So if you hadn’t commented here I would not have known you had liked the post. Just so you know πŸ™‚

No worries at all about commenting – I also find no time to comment as much as I would like.

      Thank you very much πŸ™‚
Even tho a haiku is short, it still takes some composing!
And the swans were just like that in real life. I simply took the photo, and afterwards loved how they were all in sync πŸ™‚

True Crime Story…It was a dark and dreary…No, actually it was a sunny spring day. Chilly but warm in the sun if you found a place to cut the wind. Beside the point but hey, writer’s have to pump it up. I was tracking down victims that didn’t know they were victims yet. A fuel oil company was trying to “maximize” their profit by skimming a little from their customers. Putting 87 gallons of heating oil in the tank round back of the house and then billing for 100 gallons. None of the homeowners caught the shortage. Some were in the city but many were in the rural areas. I met several dogs (including a VERY protective pitbull off leash) and even a pygmy goat. The nastiest greeting though, was offered by two swans. They saw me ascending the steep drive and came up and out of their pond below to cut me off before I could reach the front door. Had to feed the male (I think it was a him) my notebook to fend him off. The homeowner/victim was a little miffed but assured me, “They don’t bite”. Well, pitbulls have teeth but swans have enough attitude to impress.

I’m with you on this! Swans may not have teeth, but they can kill a man with their wings!
I used to be sent to get eggs from the farmer next door when I was a kid. The dog was fine, the horse was fine, but the geese!! They were the real ‘watchdogs’.

The pit bull was another story but with a happy ending, for both of us. He came charging around the side of a house as I walked around the front of my unmarked detective car. I had a notebook in my hand but something much more powerful and deadly under my sport coat. The dog meant business and I was not going to get anywhere near the front door and probably not back to my car without the two of us engaging. I have been bitten by a big dog before and I was not going to let it happen again. The pit bull stopped for a moment in the side yard to bark and I yelled, “Go get your ball!” The dog raised his ears and ran back toward the rear of the house and I scrambled back into the car. As I was leaving my business card in the mailbox (from the relative safety of my Chevy), the dog came back around and appeared disappointed I didn’t stay to throw the dirty tennis ball he carried in his mouth.

Thanks for sharing your photos and the video. Here is a video I will share with you I made a few years ago on butterflies with the same music.
