A Cautionary Tale

Mr Spaghetti Legs is an old boy; and he leaks!

No problem in summer, as most days are warm and sunny, so I just wash him when necessary.

Not so easy in winter. I had to wait for the warmest, sunniest day we were going to have in the week, and wash only half of him, the stinky half,Β so he would not get too cold as he dried.

Of course, he has no idea what I am doing, or why I am doing it. He just wants to be back inside the house. So he lies right up by the door.

His tail dried quickly and was soon fluffy and white again.Β It just made me think of a cautionary tale!

So what is Mr Spaghetti Legs’ cautionary tail?

Don’t be stinky! If you are, Mum is going to wash you.

But you look so nice and clean, Mr Spaghetti Legs. And you can’t even tell which half was washed!

I’ve heard of dog nappies, but I don’t think they are readily available over here. And my old boy is perfectly happy dripping all over the place – it is just us humans who find it annoying! πŸ™‚

Maggie reacts to the word ‘smell’ by running away and trying to hide, even if it’s not directed at her. When she’s in season, although she keeps herself clean, she is extra whiffy, so we wash her bits quite often. We’re lucky though in that she likes the hairdryer, so although the wash/shower bit sucks, she can preen in a heat wave, and does!

You’re lucky you trained her young! πŸ™‚
My dogs usually come scared of water (maybe the hosing down of kennels?) but all are sterilised, so at east I don’t have that problem.
