Puppy Too

Little Monkey and Puppy 1

Little Monkey and Puppy 1

Do you remember my posts Puppy and Puppy Love that I published in May, with photos of my friend’s little puppy, Spunk?

Well I promised you an update, so here it is.

Yes! The dog sitting (well starting to lie down – she doesn’t like sitting much) next to Little Monkey is that same puppy only four months later!

Little Monkey is foaming at the mouth, because this was the end of dog class and the anxious old girl had had a tough time dealing with new and/or high energy dogs, which is the whole reason we keep going.

In this photo you can see that although Spunk is almost the same size as LM, she doesn’t have the weight. And it’s great to see them so close together. When I puppy-sat, LM ran away from the tiny puppy! It means LM has accepted Spunk as part of her extended pack (with my friend H and her two other large dogs) and the puppy has learnt how to behave around anxious dogs.

I like this one. I whistled to get them both to look at me. Spunk is still a little unsure as to why she has to lie there next to the silly LM, but she is doing it. This is a testament to the amount of work my friend H has put in with this little dog, taking her on long walks at least twice a day, going to dog socialisation classes (as seen here) three times a week and generally exposing the pup to as many new situations as possible. These are all the things LM missed out on before I adopted her.

Here is another puppy and great friend of Spunk. Yes, I said puppy! The Deerhound/Wolfhound walking behind LM is about 6 months old.

Who knew that dogs could photobomb too?

Seriously?! That pup has burgeoned into a dog ha ha! I could hardly believe how fast puppy grew!! As for the mini horse….saddle her up and let LM “ride” the fella!! Nice to know that in SA pet owners do care enough to get their dogs out to socialising classes and meeting other woofies 🙂

Sadly, not all pet owners do this socialising – but I choose my friends well!
And the pup is still growing – probably only half size so far!

Wow, Spunk grew up fast. I think it is great to take dogs to socialization classes. Some people have dogs that jump on you and try hard to knock you down – I personally do not like that the untrained dogs. Nice post, enjoyed your photos.

      Thank you 🙂
Yes, that puppy is Still growing! Will be almost as big as a Great Dane.
I think it is unacceptable for people to let their dogs jump on you. Mine are shut out until calm, and only allowed to meet guests If the guests would like to! And then my dogs must approach calmly and sit down! To me that is just good manners 🙂
