Oh Christmas Tree, Cape Town

Christmas is waiting to greet you, when you arrive at Cape Town airport.

Welcome to the Mother City, oh weary traveller from the North.

Have some SUN!

post script: I first learnt this carol, Oh Christmas Tree, at school, in French. So here is the French version for you to listen to: sung by Nana Mouskouri; Mon Beau Sapin.

Interesting to see the tree juxtaposed with the word warmth like that. In South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and places like that, Christmas must be such a different experience from in the frigid northern climes. 🙂

Thank you for noticing that word! That’s why I didn’t crop the photo more.
I grew up in the north of England, so yes, even after many years in SA, it still doesn’t seem right, this time of year. 🙂

Must be unusual to enjoy Christmas when it is so warm. If we want sun and warmth in winter here in America we go to Florida. Love the song “Oh Christmas Tree” in French, such a beautiful voice.

Oh, I’ve seen the videos (I particularly think of the ones where the seals go flying into the air, courtesy Air Shark Snout) – I think when I finally make it to South Africa, I will enjoy the beach while sitting on the beach – rather than in the water!

I don’t know – what if this shark spotter fell asleep?

Note: my husband thinks my fear of sharks is absurd. But as someone who grew up in the middle of a continent on lakes (and watched Jaws as a kid), I think he is far too unconcerned with the potential dangers lurking in the deep.

Your fear if sharks is not absurd, but if you stay on the land-side of the surf you should be OK, as sharks like to ‘play’ in the surf.
Of course, if you do stay out of the water completely, you’ll be even safer! 🙂

Ah, no worries. 🙂 I realise it is a whole year since I posted a close up of my daughter standing in front of this fish photo at the airport.
I just appreciate that you read my posts and comment 🙂
