Well, you’ve got to start somewhere!

This oak tree was planted as an acorn in my garden, by a squirrel, about 20 years ago.

Very nice! Oak Trees (as so many trees) are awesome!

    “The Trees”

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

    The trouble with the maples
(And they’re quite convinced they’re right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can’t help their feelings
If they like the way they’re made
And they wonder why the maples
Can’t be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
    As the maples scream ‘Oppression!’
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
    And demanded equal rights
‘The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light’
Now there’s no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
    By hatchet, axe and saw

haha Actually, I’m pretty sure he just planted acorns to eat in winter – and this particular seed grew. But his descendants are jolly glad of it. 🙂

Watch the little squirrels planting acorns all over my yard. I realize they do that to store food for the winter. But some of those acorns that they fail to dig back up become oak trees. Takes a long time to grow and oak tree. They are beautiful trees. Nice to have that oak tree in your yard that a squirrel planted just for you.

We have some trees that were nothing but stems twenty years ago. They just were there…… Didn’t even notice them growing. Recently I looked out and thought why can’t I see the view anymore. 😦 Bunch of big trees in the way. Kind of like kids growing up. Never noticed.

We took a sprout from under ‘Our Tree’ in the New Forest shortly after we got married. We kept it on the window cill in the kitchen for a few years so that it could establish itself and then transferred it to a proper pot and put it outside. It was doing really well. When we moved, we took it with us, and even though we kept it in the pot, it died! I never did have green fingers, and even artificial flowers droop after a while in our house!

Aw – Even the most robust of plants often don’t like being moved. I don’t have green fingers either – best I don’t even Look at a plant! Tho I can water them – from a distance! 🙂
