How Green Was My Garden
Continuing to teach myself how to use the Nikon camera, I tried to capture the different hues of summer in my back garden.
So many shades of green: sometimes because that’s just how they grow, in different tones:
sometimes because some plants are just starting to bloom:
while others are preparing for autumn already.
You get all sorts here in the Mediterranean climate of Cape Town, with long warm summers and mild wet winters.
post script: All these shots were taken on Auto, while I familiarised myself with the camera and focus.
Really stunning shots!!!

You are more than welcome💜. Learning new things is very healthy for our brains. Just saw a great TED talk. So, you are having fun and doing something healthy at the same time!😊

Great job! Thank you for all the green. .. a color I’m lacking in my view right now!
Sidenote: Went to dr. yesterday. Going to retinal specialist today. My Dr thinks migraine auras w/o pain are too rare and wants retinas checked. 😢

Thank you 🙂
Well better to get it checked out, in case. I have two friends who got detached retinas repaired no problem and they still see better than I do!
And you might just be rare, and have no pain migraines!! Good Luck – and let me know what happens. 🙂

So! Yeah! Both retinas (thin) but attached! 😅😄😍
Saw a retnia specialist, so I believe her. I showed her the video & she said, “I see those!” I almost dropped my phone. She said the w/o pain ones can be related to too much estrogen. .. ie a menopause symptom. No 💩! That is wacky strange! So, I may just get an mri to see if my brain isn’t falling out my ears. .. but I think I’m safe in the eye department!
Thanks so much for allowing me to bend your ear! You’re a great friend! 💖

Phew! I’m very happy your eyes are OK 🙂
It’s always scary when things go wrong, but still best to get checked out as soon as possible, as a lot of things are fixable today.
And no problem at all about lending an ear – any time! 🙂

Ooh! New camera? What model?

It’s a Nikon D3100, with a standard lens. It’s not too complicated really, just quite a step up from my old point and click Canon, so I am experimenting. 🙂

Very nice capture of all those shades of green. I keep my camera on automatic quite often. Takes forever to learn all these settings.

Thank you 🙂 I’m getting the feel of it now – what to hold, what to fiddle with! 🙂

Good word – fiddle. That sounds like the word I would use also. You and I are smart (right?) we will learn how to use our cameras.

Absolutely! 🙂
Actually that is why my daughter bought me this particular camera – because it has a slow learning curve and you can pick it up and take photos from day one.
I’d just like to get more out of it, and setting myself this weekly challenge makes me do so. 🙂
Thank you for your comments, as always 🙂

Thank you 🙂 It is a good camera, and I hope to get more out of it by practising like this. I’m getting more comfortable with what to adjust! 🙂

Thank you so much for the encouragement. 🙂
I’m feeling more comfortable with it, and where all the knobs and buttons are and what they do!
I know the camera is good – it’s just me I have to work on! 😀

You’ll get the hang of it. Like you, I have to play with my smart phone and “intelligent” car…lots of gizmos, knobs or features 😄
