I don’t always look up, especially as it is very sunny and I don’t like blinding myself.
However, I happened to glance over the grape vines the other day and was startled to see my bougainvillea reaching for the stars.
Swaying slightly in the hint of a breeze, these spindly branches stretched longingly heavenwards.
And yes, the sky really is that deep a blue.
Now how am I going to trim that?

Thanks God, you looked up, Scifi 🙂
Are you sure it’s the right time to cut the bogainvillia?
Have a nice Time, Scifi,

I could trim it now, as it is just starting to grow again. It would make it less straggly at least 🙂

The moment I live somewhere warm enough to grow a bougainvillea, I will be growing one. And, apparently, finding a tall friend to prune it.

Yes! But this plant has been growing for years and years – So plant it as soon as you arrive! 😀

Lovely blue sky…………no wonder your bogainvellia wanted to touch it. we had some loppers for pruning those high up branches on our apple tree. Brilliant contraption, long handle, cutting blades at the end and a long piece of string attached. 🙂

I do have some long-handled secateurs, but even at the top of a ladder I’d battle to reach this. I’m hoping it will curve back down at some point! 🙂

Pensitivity101 botch-it plan: Attach a piece of string to a boomerang (or curved stick), then throw it over the offending branch. Remember to duck as said boomerang returns for your retrieval and pull on the string. Might work 🙂

Well, that is a beautiful bloom on your bogainvellia. I am with Midwestern Plant Girl – throw knives. Or, hire a basketball player that is 7 feet tall to prune them for you. Lovelly photos and a beautiful blue sky.

Just to share. I was told by my eye surgeon friend to avoid looking into the sun. It promotes the growth of cataracts! I thought it is an interesting and good fact to share. I used to sun tan a fair bit as I swim alot before my spine gave up! I hope I will get the side effects as I get older.

Thank you 🙂 I am aware the chances of cataracts in a sunny place like SA are high, but I always wear the darkest, best protection sunglasses you can get, and my peaked cap. I look like I’m trying to be ingognito!! 😀
