Dog Day Afternoon

As you may know, we have had a very long, hot summer, here in Cape Town, South Africa.

Suddenly, the weather turned and we’ve had one cold front after another, with strong winds and rain battering the coast.

Little Monkey is beginning to feel her years, (she is nearly 11and she is a Sun Dog: she worships the sun.

She took to her bed in resignation.

It appears she didn’t even have enough energy to get comfy!

I think she intends to stay here till summer returns.

She is definitely having a Dog Day Afternoon!

Our dog, Gabbie, is older… so we know what it’s like! (We gave her a haircut yesterday, and it was quite a job!)
Re the Squirrels (don’t know if these work, but i bet the light-emitting one does for sure):

When I got LM, I insisted on a short haired dog, since the two I had at the time were like your Gabbie, and needed their hair trimmed – from under their paws etc It takes ages, and gets harder as the dog gets older and less co-operative!

Thank you so much for the links – I have passed them on to my husband. I agree with you: I think the strobe light is a good bet. We put a normal desk lamp in the roof the other day, but I think the flashing might work. – If not, we’ll have to call someone in.

Thanks again for the squirrel tip – we’re working on the light thing.
Some dogs are high maintenance, grooming-wise! 🙂

Oh bless. We’re coming into our warmer months, though what with the named storms making themselves known, I daren’t say Summer! Nuce and sunny today and we’ve even risked it by putting away the oil filled rads!
