Look what my daughter Pix found wandering round a neighbour’s garden.

He was very aware he was having his photo taken, so stretched his leg and posed for a few shots;

before ambling slowly off centre stage!

These birds are great fun as theyΒ tend to walk sedately around a flat area and don’t easily fly off. Β They are not often spotted, even though they are called a Spotted Dikkop.

    Aah a new bird species…Dikkop! Looks like a long legged version of our local game bird that is reared for its tiny eggs. We call these “pigeon eggs” but not a pigeon per se. These are hardboiled and eaten with a dish called “laksa”

      How marvellous to have a fossil bird. πŸ™‚ Maybe you got a proto-ostrich? πŸ™‚
      And yes, birds have certainly been around a very long time.

    Excellent and great shots… the Spotted Dikkop, remind me of the teros, here… they have long legs as well but no spots on their feathers.
    Happy day to you. Sending all my best wishes!. Aquileana πŸ˜€
