When you need to re-connect with nature, this is the place to come. Sitting here with squirrel monkeys running all around, and on you!
And if you sit very quietly, you just might be lucky enough, as I was, to have Mummy monkey come sit on your knee, with her baby on her back.
Here he is having some fruit with his Mum. I know the photo’s a bit blurred (zoom on my trusty little Canon), but I think you can still make out his little hands and see how he is sitting there copying his Mum.
Squirrel monkeys aren’t the only animals to enjoy the free meals supplied around here. Check out the squirrel.
This has got to be the fattest Sparky I have ever seen! Certainly way more rotund than those who visit my garden.
And though this baby is getting a bit big to cart around all the time, it is still his favourite place to hang out. Mum just carries on as usual, bounding around sure-footed and seemingly inconvenienced by her hitch-hiker.
post script: It’s all happening at the World of Birds, Hout bay, Cape Town.
