Today is World Environment Day. It is celebrated every year on 5 June to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth.

David Attenborough’s quote sums up how I feel about the natural world. I have been watching his nature programmes since I was a kid. He has just turned 90, but his enthusiasm and love of the natural world has never waned. He continues to inspire and awe us all, while educating us on well known and unknown plant and animal species. always with something new to offer.

I was so lucky to attend a lecture given by Sir David, here in Cape Town, six years ago. He was just as charming, intelligent and well-spoken as seen on his TV programmes. It is something I will treasure for ever.

    Thank you for letting us know that today is World Environment Day, now, more than ever (because people didn’t pay attention to the environment, thus, the consequences of the neglect are scree highly obvious), this is the most important issue — the environment.

    David Attenborough, has helped the good earth with his most informative documentaries, environmentalists are Heros. 🙂

      Steve also had that gift for passing on his excitement and delight with the natural world.
      I don’t know who could possibly step into David’s shoes when he goes.

    Yes, I am also going to celebrate outdoors. We have a sunny day and maybe I will find some nice flowers to photograph. How special to see a lecture in person by David Attenborough.

    Nice quote Sci!! Most apt indeed. My sister takes recyling very seriously here and am learning. I do some recycling in lil red dot but not as much as I want to as it is not easy.

      Yeah I did have a funny one lined up for today, but when I realised what day it was, I had to quote David instead. 🙂
