Busy Bee 1
I noticed quite a commotion by my Camellia bush the other day when I was out in the garden.
On closer inspection, I saw lots of bees buzzing around.

They crawled all over the newest buds.

Collecting pollen madly, and storing it on their back legs.

It was such a great spectacle, that even an ant came to watch!
post script: These photos were taken with my trusty old Canon, held at arm’s-length right in the heart of the bush, hoping that the pollen would be more attractive to the bees, than me!

It’s pretty cold here today – and wet! Yet the camellia is still in full bloom!

Beautiful bee/flower combinations! 🙂 We need to do more to help bees. Here in the States they are using far too many lethal pesticides.

Honeybees are SO docile. Unless you accidentally smoosh one, you’re unlikely to ever get stung…they die after they sting you, so their motivation is to leave you alone while they do their work.

haha No problem, and I’m sure you’re right – just that I have been chased by a very large SA wasp once, with dangling stingers, trying to sting me on the face!

Wasps are NASTY! As are yellow jackets (don’t know if you have these or their equivalent) — relentless, will chase you forever and sting again and again!

Actually it happens quite a lot to me! It is often so sunny that I shoot ‘blind’ and hope for the best! 😀
