Inferno

Inferno

Inferno

Veld fires are an occasional hazard of living in a dry country with a hot sun.

Here you see winter trees on fire. The dry wood combusts instantly at the slightest spark; which might be caused by sunlight magnified on a dew drop, or someone’s carelessly tossed cigarette.

Well; not actually!

This is sunrise in my back garden.

Did I trick you?

post script: I would have added further photos depicting this amazing sunrise, but WP includes mini shots of all your photos under the main photo in the WP Reader, which would spoil the effect.

      Thank you very much 🙂
Yes, we usually get these fires at the end of summer, in February. Some plants, like the protea, actually need fire in order to seed. 🙂

Lovely capture! Great imagination on this also 😃
About the “featured image”… I’ve learned it matters which publishing format in WP you use. I like the old one to write my posts, but the new one allows you to pick the photo you’d like to use as the “featured image”. You could use a pix that isn’t even in your post that way. If you want me to explain more, I will.

      Thank you 🙂
I also use the old Dashboard, and I can select a featured image – my problem is the tiny thumbnails WP puts at the bottom of your post, visible in the Reader, (before you even click on the post to go read it), which gives the game away.
WP shows All your photos in your post here. Now That I don’t know how to get around.
It may view differently on a phone? But certainly this is what I see on my laptop.
But thank you for offering help … After all, I was the one using full size photos! Doh! 😀

        Huh, interesting.
I will go check out your blog on a real computer. Mine (my blog theme) doesn’t do that (to my knowledge).
There’s almost always a work around IMO. I do know a bit of html and css style to change things. Maybe you’ve got a widget fired up in there? Do you know how to look/change those?
Nothing in the phone app is like the ‘puter. This is why I like it. There is nothing but the post itself. I don’t see anything like your header, side stuff or nothing. No distractions. Just pix and posts. So, I wouldn’t know what your theme is or anything like that from the app. Just the good stuff… your photos and words 😆

Your post in the WP Reader also has all the little thumbnail photos at the bottom. Everyone’s does, and WP did this oh maybe 6 months to a year ago when they were re-vamping the whole Reader. – You remember, when they were telling you how long it would take you to read it etc.
I don’t think any of us have any control over the appearance of this – it is not Theme specific.
(Clicking on the post then opens up a larger window with the whole post, but does not go to the actual blog.)
If I check on my very old iPhone, then yes, I only get the actual post.
It doesn’t matter really, I was just explaining why – when I am trying to trick you all – I can’t then show other photos. 🙂
