How do you like them apples?

And how about these little cherry tomatoes?

Hmmm, wait a minute, isn’t that plant a bit spiky for a tomato plant?

Yes, you could be right.

So what about them apples then?

That also looks spiky.

Yes, it’s the same spiky plant. It’s been sitting in a massive pot on my stoep for years and suddenly this year decided to have ‘fruit’:

Little red berries looking like baby tomatoes and the ripest ones looking like apples.

That’s a very pretty plant. I’m terribly uncultured and the phrase “how do ya like them apples” just reminds me of the Sarah Silverman skit involving Matt Damon ….

It’s an asparagus fern. They are tough as nails here in AZ. They endure the heat and stay green all year. Hard to kill. I sometimes pull out a few bits and add them to my annual pots for some cascading greenery. The birds will eat the fruit.

I have never even seen the white flowers, they are always just green spiky indoor plants in the garden centres, must look lovely with white flowers πŸ™‚

Wow! That’s awesome Sci. I was thinking why you took the snap of an apple from such a close distance. After reading about comparison about apple and tomatoes plant, I realized the difference. Yes, they are spiky for apple. Congrats for the apple. Finally, it has become fruitful . πŸ™‚

    Have a beautiful day. πŸ™‚

Well I doubt it for me – but I’m sure the squirrels and birds might like them. πŸ™‚
I realise it doesn’t look it here, but they are really tiny!

I just like that it’s always green πŸ™‚
So – did you guess straight away that it wasn’t an apple? πŸ™‚

Eh πŸ˜‰ you know you have to get up pretty early to fool me on the plant stuff!
To stump me, you have to go back to the prism shining on your crock shoe kinda thang. I had no clue what that was! Aside from a cool photo!

Well, I’m not eating them! πŸ™‚ But, yeah I think squirrels and birds might like them. They are really tiny – which doesn’t show too well in my photos.
