What is this? See if you can guess before reading further.
It sort of looks like a bird, but it must be a pretty weird one.
Oh wait, now it looks more like a bird.
Oh, That’s what you are!
A Cape Bulbul! Pretty little thing.
But really little bird, I don’t think it is good for you to drink water out of my chlorinated swimming pool;
Even if you do perform amazing acrobatics to do so!
post script: The first photo shows the little Bulbul standing at the very edge of the pool, with its bum in the air and its head down in the pool taking a drink. In the second photo it is right way up again. Both photos are taken from behind the bird.

Drinking chlorinated water? Yuk! I guess it just wanted to clean its throat or something. 🙂

Well, it’s nothing like as chlorinated as an indoor swimming pool, but still, not as fresh as all the fresh water amply supplied elsewhere in my garden! 🙂

I thought perhaps it was your fastidious thrush wanting a chlorinated bath.

Superb, Sci! But my parrot friends have a request: Quit taking close-up photos of their relatives hind-ends (or they’ll retaliate and do the same to your relatives)! 🙂
(Just kidding, of course; they’re smart, but they’re not that smart.)

I thought it was a pigeon. 😉
You’re a lot of fn with these guessing posts! 🙂
I do agree: it’s not good for the bird to drink out of your chlorinated swimming pool.

Thank you. I have fun trying to trick you! 🙂
I don’t know why this bird was drinking from the pool, when there was plenty of fresh water available.

What a cute bird, I wish the birds around here were this pretty. All we get are those speckled brown birds, I think they’re called Thrashers, & those awful disgusting pigeons!

haha Yes, we get lots of pigeons too, but actually quite a variety of pretty birds also 🙂

I’m sure he’s been doing this for a while, but I never saw him before. There was plenty of fresh water available in 5 dog bowls on the stoep – and in the bird bath! 🙂

Maybe it’s an acquired taste, or an addiction!

Oh, dear, drinking out of the swimming pool!! That is strange. I have never seen a bird do that before.

It was so weird, because there is fresh water freely available elsewhere! 🙂

What a cool looking bird! I especially like the pop of yellow on his underside.

Thank you 🙂 That splash of yellow, and the funny ‘cap’ on its head, are how I can easily identify it 🙂

Interesting that this specie of bird drinks out of the pool! Ha ha pray tell what is the purpose of your bird bath? These birds are drinking out of dog bowls and now your pool 😃
They go for excitement ha ha!

I’ve no idea what’s going on! As you point out, there’s a perfectly decent bird bath available! 🙂
