Remember

Poppy Day

Poppy Day

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Poem ‘For the Fallen’ by Robert Laurence Binyon.

Today is Armistice Day and November 13th is Remembrance Sunday.

Traditionally red poppies are worn to symbolise those that grew on battle fields such as in Flanders Fields. This year I have a photo of my own little yellow poppy that survived itself against all odds.

A two minute silence is held to mark the end of the First World War, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

Because we should remember all those fallen in all wars.

And make sure that some day it stops.

Very pure and beautiful thoughts. The ones we lose always remain so close to the the heart .It is uncanny that they become inseparable closer than they were when they were physically around us ,that is my personal experience.Thank you for such a positive write I was expecting to reading more dog posts .This was lovely.

This is a special day, here, too. Facebook reminded me straight out of the box this morning that three years ago I was able to be with my late husband on his last Veterans Day. I could wish I didn’t get ambushed by the memories feature of Facebook, but this one is very poignant.

Thank you for the post. 💔

Aw sorry to hear that. I read on someone else’s blog that we don’t need a date to remember those we’ve lost, which is true. Sending sunbeams. 🙂
