Look Who’s Back!

Flower 1

Flower 1

Springing up like new again, just in time for autumn, is this lovely flower, Nerine Bowdenii. Hooray!

It appears so suddenly, that it takes you by surprise: one day nothing, the next day there it is!

I had actually walked right past it a few times, carrying heavy watering cans to save my precious plants, when my husband pointed it out to me!

Talk about being unobservant!

Still, it’s great to know that there’s something around here growing well despite the drought.

We have a similar version which comes in the autumn, such a delicate pink, we only have a couple, would love to see them in a mass. Lovely photos of them πŸ™‚

Thank you. I think it is a kind of lily, and a similar one in USA is called the “surprise lily” – because it suddenly pops up like this one. πŸ™‚

Thank you πŸ™‚ I find the surprise of its sudden existence adds to its beauty. πŸ™‚
Thank you for the visit and all the likes. πŸ™‚ I visited your blog when I read your post a while ago in my Reader, but couldn’t find earlier posts to read. Still, I’m very happy to see you back. I’ve missed your poems. πŸ™‚

We have a flower that’s similar.. we call them ‘surprise lilies’ as they well, surprise you! Same way, no leaves until the opposite season.
These are cousins of that red flower I had in my haiku a few days back.

Is that the one I thought was a hibiscus? – Double checks. Yep and it still looks like one. πŸ˜€
I’m just overjoyed to see anything as pretty as this Nerine just popping up in my garden with no faff. πŸ™‚
