Da Ba Dee Da Ba Die Da Ba Dee Da Ba Die
Blue is such a marvellous colour, as my plumbago auriculata so aptly demonstrates, and quite rare in the natural world.
Yes, this is autumn in the Western Cape. Winter is just around the corner: winter solstice 21st June. But my little plumbago could care less. He’s going to flourish regardless.
Original song by Eiffel 65, with lyrics, Blue (Da Ba Dee).
And, because who can ever tell what they are singing, listen to,Β “I’m Blue, if I was green I would die”Β with funny suggested lyrics!
post script: I have to add a caveat here: I can’t remember if I recently read a blog post similar to this, or if I just found the amusing ‘Blue’ lyrics surfing Youtube. So, if you’re reading this and getting miffed that I filched your idea, my sincere apologies and please let me know in the comments; I will gladly add a reference to you here.
This is really a beautiful color. Lovely pictures. π

And now, it’s stuck in my head.
Completely unrelated, I got a bottle of South African Chardonnay yesterday – it’s sitting in the wine fridge, getting chilled for consumption at some point in the near future. I’m excited to try it!

I do hope the SA wine is drinkable. Over here it is, but you never know what they sell out there.
Enjoy anyway. π

I spent a decent amount on it and it had good reviews, plus I bought it somewhere I regularly get great/interesting wines. I’m betting I will like it!

Yay! I’m so pleased. π Do try some more! π
While I can buy excellent wine here, even at my local supermarket, I am always a little dubious as to what they sell overseas. I have seen bottles in my brother’s tiny corner shop in Yorkshire, claiming to be wine from “vineyards in the Western Cape”. I’m like, “Which vineyards?”

I got this at a place that has really interesting wine – I wasn’t too worried. Now, if I see any of this random vineyards stuff, I’ll stay away!

Very beautiful flower!
Yup. True blue is a tough to find, however there are many purple flowers that can pass for blue. I get this from my clients all the time… I want a blue flower, Ilex! Nope, you get purple and like it.
I think blue birds (birds that are blue) are seen as blue because of the reflections off their feathers. They aren’t really blue either.

Thank you π
Yes, this is what I understood when I looked it up. Flowers have so much red in them that even when you add blue, you end up with purple. Maybe your clients should invest in blue-tinted spectacles! π
btw You were the one I thought I might have cribbed from. It’s funny when you aren’t sure if your idea is original, or you are simply remembering something!

Oh gesh… don’t worry about cribbin’ on me π
Are there truly any original ideas anymore? I think not. There’s just different takes on the same old ideas. ππ€£

Yes, I think you’re right π But I wouldn’t want to over-crib. π
