Rainfall in a drought-stricken land.
Haiku 44
Whispers in the night
Dying leaves now susurrate
Regeneration
.
How I have missed the soothing sound of rain falling, especially in the middle of the night.
My trusty Canon captured Nature’s special effects: Raindrops frozen in spacetime.
In the background you can just make out the pink blobs that are new blooms on my camellia bush.
post script: I just love the word susurrate: meaning, of leaves or wind, making a whispering, rustling sound. Definitions and origins can be found here: susurrate – susurration.
I, too, love the sound of falling (as opposed to driving) rain. That photo is stunning.

Thank you so much! 🙂
I’d take Any kind of rain at the moment – drizzling, driving, freezing – as long as it’s wet! 🙂

Great! 🙂 Send some our way! Illinois is now in a drought. The soil is parched with cracks everywhere.

Sorry Tom, we need way more rain than one little storm. Dam levels increased, but only by 1%, from 19% to 20% – so still a long way to go to fill up and last us through the next dry summer.
I thought you had a lot of rain a while back. Can’t the farmers irrigate their crops?
Still, the weather world wide is getting more extreme and we have only ourselves to blame for it.

Just beautiful! I like the vertical dashes of the falling raindrops. I learned a new word the other day: petrichor- scent of rain 🙂

Thank you 🙂
And what a marvellous word – petrichor.
I love walking Little Monkey after it’s rained; the air is so fresh. 🙂

Yes! I love rain. Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapor and then precipitated—that is, become heavy enough to fall under gravity. Rain is a major component of the water cycle and is responsible for depositing most of the fresh water on the Earth.

It’s just a pity that with climate change we have not been getting as much rain as usual, while other places have floods.
Life needs fresh water!

Thank you. 🙂 I find it fun to notice afterwards what the camera caught, that I couldn’t see at the time. 🙂

I love evening rains and new words 😃
So glad you’re getting the rain you need. It’s about time the storms have left my Northern hemisphere and got down to yours. Last weekend felt line I was in Africa! I like it, tho my flowers don’t 😐
