More Hilarious Spam

Pink Flowers 1

Most spam is of the annoying advert type, but now and again there is something that makes me laugh. The spammer will try everything to get you to interact with them, telling you all sorts of nonsense. They are easy to spot though, as they tend to comment on much older posts, which is a complete give away; if their writing were not enough of a clue!

I couldn’t resist sharing this little gem with you –

“I am regular visitor, how are you everybody? This piece of writing posted at this site is actually nice.”

Actually nice? You needn’t sound so surprised!

Also, I know I have gained a leetle weight, but it’s still quite rude to refer to me in the plural! (how are you everybody!)

And, No, you are not a regular visitor; I’ve never seen you before (most likely thanks to the efforts of the amazing Akismet!)

Here’s one that flatters away without actually saying anything. It was in response to my post Please WP! where I complain about the alterations to the WP Reader Notifications!

I would like to thank you for the efforts you have put in penning this site. I’m hoping to view the same high-grade blog posts by you in the future as well. In truth, your creative writing abilities has inspired me to get my very own website now. 🙂

Yes, there was a smiley face at the end. What’s not to like about this one?

As I said above, all I did in my post was rant. High-grade? haha Nope! But at least someone appreciates the efforts I put into penning my posts!

And another gem –

Aw, it was a truly good post. In concept I should put in writing related to this additionally – spending time and actual effort to manufacture a superb article…but exactly what do I say… I procrastinate alot (sic) and no indicates locate a method to go carried out.

I totally agree… exactly what do you say?

This was in response to a Sunday Musing from May last year, where the quote was, “Don’t suffer from stress: Be a carrier!” A superb article? Spending time and actual effort?

Well at least somebody thinks so!

How about this one, which speaks for itself, amazing punctuation, spelling and all! –

Should you turn a door knob recently touched by a sneezing, sniffling person, and thus lift help to yoour nose, you afflicted both yoursslf internet marketing After the draft Direct Mail Marketing Nevertheless loved fundamental idea!

time answering when your breaathing routine is underway you’ll get to coughing a lesser amount change career Tailor selecting based over your book area time freedom

I can’t help but feel they have simply lifted whole sections from different articles at random.

And what any of this has to do with my post, River Dance, which is about rain on my stoep, I guess I’ll never know.

Does anyone know the purpose of spam such as these?

I understand the advert type ones; they want you to click on their site, or respond somehow. But these other ones? Are they the same, but use a different method by claiming to be a regular reader and all friendly?

I have no idea.

All I know, is that checking my spam caught by Akismet, provides me with great amusement and entertainment.

post script: If you find a particular post is being bombarded by spam, you can disable comments for that one post. I’ve had to do this a few times lately. You have to work from the “improved editor” not the old Dashboard and WordPress support tells you how to do that here.

I got this excellent tip from a post by da-AL; 2 Fab WordPress Tips.

I wish I received hilariously entertaining Spam. I just get inane drivel most of the time. Like today, I received six emails from something or other about Britney Spears losing 30lbs or something. The email included two pictures of said singer, or whatever she is these days. One of the pictures was taken when she was obviously pregnant and it invited me to enter their website, guffaw, guffaw, in order to find out how she had “miraculously” lost the said “30lbs”.
Well, I’m not stupid. It was pretty obvious to me straight away how she lost that weight; she pushed out a baby!

Actually I don’t get any spam in my regular email at all. I just notice here on WP what Akismet has saved me from. Thank Goodness I didn’t get the Britney Spears one! 😀

      Thank you 🙂
Actually I don’t see any spam because WP Akismet catches it all. You have to look on your dashboard for it. I think you’ll be surprised just how much spam Akismet protects you from. And you can have a good laugh at their nonsense too 🙂

      haha Your very welcome 🙂
I have read someone’s blog who was very pleased with a flattering comment and had no idea it was actually spam. The nonsense spam are easy to spot, the generic flattering ones not so much. Basically I’m a cynic so don’t trust these flattering comments at all.

Well, I was thinking of posting a very flattering comment to this article, but if you’re not going to trust me, I won’t! (Just kidding, of course; this post was “actually nice” — ha ha!) 🙂

I often find my WP spam amusing. It is hard to think that they get any success from such obviously spammy comments. Here’s my latest: “Instead of driving, try getting public transportation. There was an increase of near 50% in consumption of energy in the state. This is rare and big news for a rookie. They looked fatigued. The following financial tips contain some basic advice, which will help you to control your money better.” Eh? 🙂

      haha That’s a good nonsense one 🙂
Some of the blatant flattery spam comments do seem to get approved by some bloggers. Me, I don’t believe a word of it. I know I’m not That good! 😀

I have no idea what the purpose of spam is, but I wish the ones I received were as entertaining as these! I recently had a post being bombarded with spam, thanks for the tip about disabling comments.

I’ve had a few classics too, but the latest are pure gibberish, bad grammar, poor spelling and no punctuation. They are also commenting on images obtained from google as posts!

These are hilarious! The incomprehensible ones are the variety our blog generally gets, too. But, what do you think this one says?

    “サイモン・アルカンタラによる、究極のフープピアス店内の一番目立つショーケースで、眩い輝きを放ってましたゴールド、シルバー、パール、それから。”

Hello! I’m glad to have found your (blog, website, photo, chat room, site) 🤣😂
I don’t have an elaborate answer for why spammers do this, however it has to do with making connections to other legit websites.
When there are links in a site, to other legit sites, search engines give it a bit more priority. (why you should link back to things in your own site when possible) These spam sites now look a bit better to search engines with these links active in your legit blog/site.
Also, maybe one of your followers will see you subscribe to hotboysxxx and want to subscribe also! 😉😉

Yeah, it is odd. I’ve tried to figure out if it is the links back to my site that I have added. Often there are no links, but I check my spam and many Spammers have commented on one particular post.
So where’s this “hotboysxxx” at?? 😀
