Black Cats

Cat’s Eyes 1

Happy Halloween!

This is a guest spot by Little Monkey’s Arch Nemesis, Princess Morbo, my daughter Pix’s cat.

Cat’s Eyes 2

I have always thought black cats are lucky. Not everyone thinks this way.

Cat’s Eyes 3

If you go to a rescue centre,ย you will find an inordinate number of black cats waiting to be adopted.

Cat’s Eyes 4

People pick all the pretty and unusual colours first. Friday 27 October was Black Cat Day to raise awareness of the problem. Check out this Simon’s Cat cartoon.

Cat’s Eyes 5

Who could resist those eyes?

It is the same for black dogs. They are the ones always left there at the rescue organisations.ย Animals have no idea what colour they are. Isn’t it about time we also became colour blind?

For some fun Black Cat facts check out this little clip of Cole the Black Cat.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is not really celebrated here in SA, though I do have two bowls of sweets ready on the dining table, just in case.

Of course, if no-one comes again, like last year, I guess I’ll just have to eat them all myself. It’s a hard task, but someone has to do it!

I love black cats! When I get my own place, I’m going to be a foster parent for disabled cats and black cats! They will fit in fine, since I’m going to be a vet!

Our cat, Ninja, is a black cat with extra toes…lots of them. Polydactyl it is called. After all the other black cats had been given homes at the cat rescue centre, Ninja remained. We fell in love with her instantly and brought her home.

She has very enigmatic eyes , reminds me of one that used to roam around our area back in India. I feel black cats look majestic with a distinct air of their own โ˜บ

Wow, that kitty has very pretty eyes ๐Ÿ˜€
Weirdly here, black cats are thought to be unlucky and white cats are thought to be lucky. But just to throw a spanner in the works, white cats are also seen as suspicious because they’re meant to talk with the fairies and conspire with them hehe ๐Ÿ˜€
    I love Irish Mythology ๐Ÿ˜€

I have had lots of black cats over the years, but the kittens from my siamese, who got out and made friends with a black tomcat, were beautiful, we had no trouble finding homes and we kept one, which we named Kitty. Beautiful cat eye photos, they just know every thing ๐Ÿ™‚

I like cats a lot – but can’t have one due to allergies (and LM too I guess!) ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ve always found it odd just how many people choose their pets simply by their looks!

I’ve been around lots of black cats – with one exception, they’ve all been great (and the one exception really, really disliked me, but I don’t hold it against black cats, just her. Because clearly, something was off about her!).

Trick or treat…..can I have a candy from the bowl on your table please๐Ÿ˜‰
Yes black things are unlucky in Asian countries. My black jackets must be accentuated with a piece of jewellery or brooch or pin that is colorful.
Pix’s cat has eyes like saucers…green like peridots haha! I can picture LM with it!๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Oh I am surprised black cats are unlucky for you – I read they were lucky in eg Japan?
I think a black jacket with a colourful brooch would look beautiful! ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank you; I do love Princess’s eyes! But Luckily for the cat, she will never meet LM as they live 6000 miles apart! ๐Ÿ˜€

Love the pics! I adopted a black kitten some years ago – Mephistophales. He was so adorable, even if he did like to climb my bare legs. Unfortunately, I turned out to be terribly allergic to him and had to find him a new home.

      Climb your legs! Agh!
But what a pity you were allergic to him. I totally understand tho, and glad you found him a new home. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am really allergic to all cats too, but could tolerate my daughter’s for short periods. :).

You are a true hero! The sacrifices you make for those poor sweet creatures. You selflessly allow them to complete their life’s work! I tip my hat to you. Bon appetite! (I also love black cats!)

You definitely are helping out there! ๐Ÿ™‚
Since your partner can’t tell the difference between the two you have, maybe you could sneak another one in! ๐Ÿ˜€
Alas, I don’t have any cats, black or otherwise, as I’m extremely allergic to them.
And the dogs I adopt may not always be black, but they are the ones left there that no-one else wants. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Happy Halloween!
