Faded Beauty
Your skirts are faded
Tattered and torn
Spotted with age
And all forlorn
.
Withered and tired
You hang your head
Maybe you’re thinking
Better off dead
.
My dear don’t you know
Can you not see
How lovely you are
Far more so than we
.
I found this old rose on my floribunda rose bush the other day. There are still new rose buds appearing, but it was this withered rose that caught my eye.
What a beautiful poem. In words, rhyme and sound. π

Hi there! I’ve nominated you to participate in the Three Quotes, Three Days challenge. Basically, you post three quotes, one a day, and nominate three other bloggers to share in the fun. That’s it. I hope you do take part but it’s totally ok if you don’t.
PS – The rose will never be better off dead, but gracefully retired. Anyway, the joy of the blooms is forever.

Thank you for the nomination. π
My blog is awards free – I just found it easier when I started out – so I don’t do challenges or anything, but it’s always nice to be thought of. π

I like the skirt comparison – probably because now I think I would like a skirt that looks like this.

What a lovely poem to describe such beauty. We do not lose our beauty with age it simply changes form.

This is a beautiful poem and a reminder of my dried roses I usually hang cut roses I receive in a bouquet upside down. It dries up and becomes dried flowers that I keep for months!

Thank you π And that’s a good idea for displaying them.

Beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder. There are many photographers (National Geographic e.g.) who often produce close ups of elderly people … and with beautiful results, including the wrinkles and thinning grey hair! π

I much prefer natural, even if old, to plastic youth!
