A Study in Yellow and Blue

Honeysuckle

Haiku 55

Honeysuckle bright

Bloom despite the harshest blight

Gloriously light

.

Even with the severe lack of rain here in Cape Town, all my honeysuckle plants are flourishing.

They call the Sunbirds to them as they brighten up the autumn garden.

Doing another rain dance for everyone down there. We certainly have had it to spare in the Northeastern U.S. this winter/spring. “Our” honeysuckle is starting to appear all over the place. My wife loves their fragrance. May your autumn garden get a lot of drinks in the days ahead!

Thank you very much for the visit. πŸ˜€
My honeysuckle doesn’t have much scent at all, but I believe there are 186 varieties – so maybe I was just unlucky in my choice!
We are beginning to have Some rain already – which is Great! Our dams are at about the same level as this time last year and since Capetonians are saving Much more water now, we hope the dams will fill up enough to last us through the dry Summer.
Worldwide I see extremes of weather, such as your heavy rain or the winter snow storms in the North. Hopefully you can enjoy a very pleasant summer season. πŸ™‚

I guess dry is relative? Dry in UK would be a deluge over here. Next chance of rain for us is perhaps in 8 days time. Then we’re in the rainy season!! πŸ˜€

      Thank you very much. πŸ™‚
Even tho I’ve lived here decades, I still can’t get used to the plants that flower in autumn and winter either (which is why I keep blathering on about it!)
I have new buds appearing on my rose bush! and the camellia is fit to bursting with new buds. I guess this is what a Mediterranean climate is?
But it Is getting colder! πŸ™‚

I think there are vines or shrubs and mine are shrubs, but apparently there are 186 varieties? I definitely got something different looking when I googled specifically American honeysuckle! Interesting. πŸ™‚

        Go for it! πŸ™‚
I have just planted 3 little ones along a new bare section of wall. No doubt they will appear in my blog in due course! πŸ˜€

what a nice mood you create with your words and photo. Yesterday we had a real tempest here, heavy thunderstorm, heavy rain, hail of 5 cm diam. The fire brigade had to go out for 460 times in 2 hours, the underground stopped. Everything was flooded… You would dream to get so much water, isn’t it? Have a nice day, regards Mitza

Wow that was some storm! And Massive hail stones!
Yes I Would dream of that much water, but even the little we have had, has been in spates and caused some flooding in some areas already.
      Happy Friday πŸ˜€
