Pink Dawn

Pink Sky

Haiku 57

Pink sky this morning

Put there for my delight, or

Sailors take warning!

.

I know it isn’t much of a pink sky, but I don’t often see coloured sunrises, more usually sunsets.

You need clouds for a start; which we see a little more of now we’re almost in the rainy season.

And you have to be very quick!

I opened the back door early one morning to call in Little Monkey (she still insists on sleeping outside in her cosy nook) and noticed the gorgeous sky at once.

By the time I had dashed for my camera and taken a few shots, the pink was already fading fast. In another minute it had gone completely.

Some mornings, while it’s still dark, I hear the Cape Eagle Owl. Magic.

post script: The poem I learnt as a kid is as follows:

Red sky at night, shepherd’s delight;

Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning.

There are other variations on the old weather forecasting poem.

I like both, tho sunrises tend to be more orange here and sunsets more purple. It’s just that there seems to be more colour at night, which I guess is to do with more clouds. 🙂

Lovely sky, we got a few in Scotland last week. I did notice that some of the reservoirs up there were quite low, which is strange as there has been a lot of rain, but maybe there wasn’t so much rain last year…….oh yes there was, maybe the year before, which was lovely and hot 🙂 I still go by that rhyme and it always seems to work 🙂

Well I still haven’t seen them, but I have seen some amazing pink and red ones, which are just as nice 🙂 I know we were really surprised on how low they are, still we are having more rain, so they should fill a little more 🙂

Ha ha, we had so much rain last night, there was local flooding on the roads, still we should have a nice Bank Holiday where we are. Hope you get lots of rain in your winter months 🙂

I love that saying and I often hear that from my offshore guys who worked on rigs. You have a towering fir tree in the background. I hope whoever who owns the tree keeps it in good health as it is too near your house! I worry about your safety.

There are many trees like this around here, but they are on the grass verge outside the properties so are the responsibility of the city council to maintain. Don’t worry – they are not going to fall down any time soon. 🙂
      – besides, it will flatten my neighbours first! 😀

LOL! “Flatten my neighbors first!” – I like it the safe zone you are in. We had a tembusu tree that was marked as a heritage tree which fell after a storm and killed a lady. Sadly they did not discover the hollow trunk through rot despite all the checks by arborists etc. It happened after a sudden downpour and strong winds.

That is awful that the tree killed the poor woman. I would have thought they could tell the trunk was hollow?
Oh well, things just happen sometimes.

It was as the coroner called it, “misadventure” sigh. I believe in the proverbial belief that if one’s time is up, it is up and no matter how or what, something will take us. Peace and safety be with us all is all one can ask for. Stay safe and Happy Friday to you and LM. Enjoy your walk!
