Guess Who’s Coming to Tea

Chocolate Brownies

I rarely bake these days, because there is usually only me to eat it! However I had friends over for afternoon tea the other day so took the opportunity to bake chocolate brownies. I have a tried and trusted recipe that I found in a newspaper many years ago.

After tea, I sent my friends off with some brownies as Padkos (literally road food in Afrikaans).Β As everyone seems to be on a diet these days they didn’t take many, so I guess it will be up to me to finish off the rest.

It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!

post script: Since someone will no doubt ask, yes I did offer a few brownies to my husband, but he is not much of a cake eater.

Unfortunately from being a child I have a gluten intolerance, so they would make me quite poorly…..unless you made them with gluten free flour πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Aw that sucks! I did used to bake with gluten free flour at one point, for one of my daughters – some stuff from Australia that worked really well. πŸ™‚

LOL, so very cute. Yea I tend to make a double batch just so I have the tough job of finishing off the rest as you say – somebody has to do it, may as well be me.

Hey …….. if I am ever in SA, bake up a storm because I can manage very well re cleaning off plates of goodies, and I have a constitution (?) that is relatively forgiving! πŸ™‚

Hey SciFi No not all! My constitution is such that I do not gain pounds as soon as I look at a cake, pastry like some people! I can therefore eat relatively freely. πŸ™‚

My Hubby would love to help out! They look lovely. I’ve never made brownies, chocolate flapjacks and chocolate cake yes. Made my weekly victoria sponge today. It may actually last longer than 6 days as I won;t be having a slice every day as it equates to 10 and a half syns and I’d rather have variety than blow it all in one go. Feeling good though and on Day 3 not feeling hungry!
