Grape Vine 1

Seemingly dead plants

Emerging now with new life

Stirrings of Summer

Grape Vine 2

While those of you in the North are experiencing winter, with bare branches on most trees, down here in Cape Town, these brand new grape vine leaves are emerging from their stark branches.

post script: I started this post two months ago, but somehow never got round to processing the photos. And even though our grape vines are slower to develop than those in actual vineyards, by now they are covered in lots of leafy green foliage. There are even teeny grapelets on the vines. Summer arrives very quickly here.

Also, this is my 1111th post. Cool number!

I am sure it must be quite a shock after the heat of Thailand.

I had many photos of new vine leaves, but also liked that first photo that caught the sun. Thank you for noticing. πŸ™‚

You never know till that first leaf appears. Ours were late arriving this year, for some reason. I also worried they had been over-pruned! πŸ™‚

Congratulations on Post #1111! That’s a lot of photos and words to come up with! Pwhew, you must be exhausted!!

Terrific shots of those grape leaves bursting forth from branches that look like they wouldn’t produce anything. Ain’t Mother Nature grand? Well, when she doesn’t have PMS!! 😳

Thank you – it’s taken nearly 5 years, so not too prolific an outpouring. πŸ˜€
Yes, I love to watch these dead-looking branches come alive. πŸ˜€
