Rainbow Flowers

Hydrangea 1

Mystic hydrangea

All colours of the rainbow

Hydrangea 2

My ancient hydrangea still produces these large beautifully coloured blooms, year after year, even though half the plant seems to have died recently.

Hydrangea 3

The colours of the petals range from yellow green, through pink and lilac to blue and purple; all at the same time.

Hydrangea 5

The plant was already here when we bought the house, but the poor thing doesn’t get enough sun, so it never grew much.

I’ve seen others in the neighbourhood that grow half way up their house walls and dwarf my little plant.

Hydrangea 6

However, mine lives just outside my front door and every time I pass by I stop.

Hydrangea 7

I look at the lovely rainbow petals.

And I smile.

Beautiful, I have just cut some dead flower heads from one of mine, to spray gold and silver for a Christmas decoration, I also like to leave some as they are. They seem to have had a come back here in the UK and I bought some new ones, but I will have to wait until next year for them to flower 🙂 Lovely photos 🙂

I love these as well. My grandmother would put ashes from the coal fireplace around hers to brighten the colors. Don’t know the validity of that. But maybe changing the PH of the soil will make a difference to the overall health. Flowers are beautiful though.

Yes I think the soil composition does make a difference. I’ve also been told to put metal bottle tops in the soil. Mostly I just add a little top soil now and then – and remember to water it! 🙂
      And thank you 🙂

Hydrangeas are so beautiful, yours in particular. A very hardy plant. Sometimes less is more, which seems to be the case here. Love the way you captured the full array of colors. What a lovely greeting every time you go in or out that door!

Very pretty! At least it Bloom’s! Flowers are flowers! We have the same problem with our Rosa-Sharon shrub! Not enough light or moisture! Looks like a skeleton compared to other neighbors shrub’s! But at least the Bloom’s that do develop are pretty! 👍🌸

haha Glad to know I am not the only one with a skeletal plant, but you are totally right – as long as it is still alive and blooming, it’s all good. 😀
