Hold the Line!

Swallows 1

Look who’s back, sitting on my telephone wires:

The European SwallowΒ or Barn Swallow.

Swallows 2

I seem to remember they picked a cloudy day last time to perch here; mostly our skies our clear blue at this time of year.

I wonder if they are making a long distance telephone call to reserve their accommodation for their return migration?

Great shots and I always love seeing birds on telephone lines and smiled at the two birds who appeared to want a little privacy for their phone call.😁 I almost forgot that you actually have cloudy weather.😁

One of my friends who works for the power company said the lines put off a bit of warmth and a very small vibration that he thinks the birds like. We’re in the Southern US so we have lots of birds year round.

Interesting, I did not know that. πŸ™‚
However, these are phone wires, so very little voltage, and also it is summer here – 35C today – so it’s unlikely the birds are cold. πŸ˜€
I think they just find it a convenient perch. πŸ™‚

Lovely! We had some on the lake last year but I never managed to get any photos. They are so damn fast! However, when resting on aerials on the pontoons themselves, I got a couple when we wereo on the marina!

Love this photo! Maybe these guys figured out how to cross some wires so they can talk as long as they like without paying for it! Lol. During the warm months, when we drive to a Walmart near us, there’s one particular wire that is wall-to-wall birds. I mean, you couldn’t fit a toothpick between them. And they’re all singing. Love it!

      Thank you πŸ™‚
It’d be great to have free long distant calls!
I bet that was a sight to see – so many birds packed on the wire. πŸ™‚
