WordPress Ads

Dianthus Raindrops 1

I apologise for all the Adverts you might be seeing these days in my blog posts or WordPress emails.

This has absolutely nothing to do with me!

My site is not monetised and I make nothing from these extremely annoying in-your-face adverts.

I take care when writing a post to place my photos and text carefully, so it is easy to read and makes sense. WordPress sticks its Ads in wherever it feels like, completely messing up my layout and leaving stray bits of text wandering free!

WordPress has been nagging me, again, to upgrade to a paid domain. I ignore all their many emails. I have noticed in the past that when they pester me like this and I don’t upgrade, they increase the amount of adverts on my poor little blog, as a kind of “Look what we can do! If you want your Blog to be Ad-free, then BUY BUY BUY!”

My blog is tiny. I write just for fun. The whole point was that it was free!

So, again I apologise for all the annoying Ads. But I guess WordPress must make its money somehow; if not a paid account, then adverts!

I agree with many of the replies and why ads appear or don’t.
One thing I’ve not seen mentioned is that because I do pay for my biz plan, WP will block ads for me.
I use the reader and don’t see ads on your posts (or anyone’s). Either from my android WP app or online regular pc.
I only follow one person who has paid ‘sponsored’ ads at the bottom of hers and I DO see those. But that’s her doing it to get $$

Thank you so much for this info. πŸ˜€
Yeah, the only way for me Not to have ads is to have a paid WP plan and then they will block them for me. πŸ™‚
Seems the main area I got all the ads was when viewing my blog on my smartphone as an “outsider” – ie not signed in to WP – which I do to check how others see it.
No worries. At least I know now that most people are not seeing all these annoying ads. Hooray! πŸ˜€

Believe me, WP isn’t picking on you. I get the same nagging to upgrade, and more ads when I don’t upgrade. I’ve seen a complaint or two from other bloggers that when they do upgrade, they experience problems they didn’t have before. As far as I’m concerned, they can nag until the cows come home — my position is unmooooovable.

πŸ™‚ Hey, there is really no need for you to apologize.

I am also using the “Free Plan” on WordPress; which means they include their advertisements on my blog.

Like you, my blog is not monetized and I blog for the fun of it.

However, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into when I signed up for a free blog on WordPress.

When I was over on Blogger, Google did not bombard my blog posts with advertisements.

If you happen to see an advertisement on someone’s blog on Blogger, it is because they have monetized their blog.

Yes, I do know WP pops ads in from time to time, as they have to make some money. I was just fed up that my previous short post had so many that they were disruptive.
However it seems most followers are not seeing too many ads, so it’s all good! πŸ™‚

None seen, or maybe we’ve become immune to them, but it wouldn’t matter to us.
We just love your photo’s and poetry.

I’ve become very adept in ignoring these ads so I barely notice them any more! So take that WP, you’re wasting your time!

Beautiful dianthus. One of my (many) favorite flowers.

I read your posts for YOUR content Sci….the Haikus, fabulous photos and what you have to say. Your posts are always interesting, fresh, imaginative, and you have some of the cutest critters and unusual plant life I’ve ever seen in your corner of the world.

I look forward to your blogs. Keep ’em coming!

I keep getting little reminders on my posts that “this website could contain ads” or something like that. Just checked yours out and agree with the above comments. If I pull you up on the reader, the post is clean. If I go into my email and pull you up that way, the ads are there. Will say, I recently tried to set up a new blog and had a hell of a time trying to find the free one. Kept directing me to paid domains.

Yes, I think WP is really trying to get us “Freebies” to sign up for a paid domain! I hope you managed to find a free new blog in the end. πŸ™‚

I did. Just can’t figure out how to set up headers and personalize it. Becoming more problem then it is worth. It took me two weeks off and on to figure out how to change it from private to public without buying a domain.

I also get one ad at the bottom when viewing posts on my phone. Today it’s a walk-in bathtub on yours. I only noticed because you wrote about ads. I’ve gotten good at ignoring ads and like you I don’t want to pay for something that has been free for so long.

I view all posts on my Mac and I only see one add at the bottom. I have gotten good at ignoring them. The do not detract from the pleasure I receive from reading your blog. You never disappoint!

I agree with the comments above, reading posts from the reader, there are no ads visible, but picking up your site by other means, they appear, as they do with mine.. I’ve noticed a lot of commercial sites following my blog though, so maybe they’re advertising rather than actually reading. I keep deleting them, but they just re-follow.
    Beautiful picture today.

I just got annoyed after WP put FOUR ads in my short post yesterday, when viewed on my phone!
99% of my “Followers” are commercial or otherwise unreal.
Thank you – I like that flower – with the raindrops – which I can only dream of now, for the next 4 months! πŸ˜€

      Ah Thank you. πŸ™‚
I think the Ads don’t show in the WP Reader, but they are all over my blog when I view on a separate device and if you receive my post via email. 😦

I just find it very annoying when the ads disrupt the blog so much, but at least I know now that most people aren’t getting so many. πŸ˜€
