Little green monster

Just want to live like us all

We each have a place

Praying Mantis 2

I first saw this tiny praying mantis inside on the window ledge in our bedroom. I carefully shooed him out of the window so he could be free.

A few days later I was sitting out in the garden under the trees having a cuppa, when I noticed him on the chair with my coffee cup.

This was a marathon effort for such a teeny fellow; to climb down the wall and across an open expanse of 10 metres of grass. Then he had climbed up a wooden garden bench to settle on the upturned plastic garden chair that sits there when not in use!

He had then clung on when I took down the chair and placed it beside me as a table.

I guess he really wanted his picture taken again!

hehe Well he was tiny, so I guess he thought it best just to stay still while I took photos. πŸ˜€
There is Nature almost everywhere you look. πŸ™‚

Wonderful pictures of this little chap Sci.
Reminds me of a biology teacher at grammar school who wore a live stick insect as a brooch. When people commented on how lifelike it was, it moved!

She was a real cow actually and everyone was terrified of her. She did have a soft side though which I discovered when we found a huge moth in the attic and I took it in. It had laid eggs on the cotton wool in the box and she was ecstatic!

Holy cow — that was a long trip for a praying mantis….but, pray tell, how do you know it was the same praying mantis? (I’m just being difficult — forgive me!)

haha Yes it was a looong way for him! πŸ˜€
I’m sure it was the same little guy, because he looked identical (tho you probably can’t tell from the photos) and I haven’t seen one for ages, so to see two different ones in a few days is unlikely. πŸ™‚

I love these pictures because I love Praying Mantis. When I was very young, unbeknownst to my parents, my brother had a cacoon of Praying Mantis in his room. We visited my grandparents and when we returned, the inside of the house was covered with baby Praying Mantis!!

My dad went around opening all the windows and we were instructed to walk, VERY CAREFULLY, out to the front porch. We sat out there for about 3 hours until all the babies were safely out.

I rarely see one anymore so this is a real treat to see yours!

Aw That is so cute! πŸ˜€
We found lots of teeny baby praying mantis in my daughter’s bedroom one day – years ago. They were about one cm long. Fortunately we managed to coax them all out of the window!
I rarely see them nowadays – like you.
