In these trying times
Take a moment to enjoy
Nature’s little things
.
Though the apple blossom has gone now, there are still apples on my ancient tree.
Mostly they are green, but I notice a few rosy-cheeked ones among them that have caught the sun.
These apples are quite sour, but as can be seen by the half eaten apple above, obviously someone out there is enjoying the feast!
I have seen squirrels in my apple tree, and many birds, but I think it is the Mouse Bird particularly that likes sour green apples.
My apples are tart, green and mishaped. I have a groundhog that likes them. So, they are all hers or his! 😁

haha Exactly what I think with my squirrels and birds. 😀
LM used to eat these sour green apples – jumped up into the tree to pull them down! 😀

Like the poem. Words for the wise. I was curious what kind of apples they are. They sound like our Granny Smith, but I don’t think they get any red on them. Could be mistaken. They are tart however, and great for baking.

I do not know what kind of apples these are – the tree was here when we moved in decades ago.
They are small though, so perhaps not quite a Granny Smith, even if they are sour. 🙂

Really miss our bramley apple tree from the cottage. Glorious fruit in abundance. nothing like going outside and picking the fruit for apple sauce for the dinner or a crumble.

We also used to have a sour apple tree in our garden when I was a kid; great for baking as you say. These apples however are tiny, so I just leave them to the birds and squirrels. 🙂

What a treat to see the apple blossom and your apples with rosy cheeks. I’ve never heard of a Mouse Bird. I’m going to look that up to see what they look like. Nice Haiku!

I have posted photos of our Mouse Birds in the past – and have a new one that I’ll post soon. They have a lovely long tail and a sort of crest on the top of their head. 😀
