Sprouting succulent

Where on Earth did you come from?

Oddest looking thing

Succulent 2

I have several plant pots on my stoep with a variety of succulents growing in them.

Mostly my succulents just grow bigger, becoming simply larger versions of themselves. I have had this particular plant for decades, but it’s never done anything like this before.

So I was surprised when I suddenly noticed these flower-like things sprouting out of it, which seemed to happen overnight! How marvellous!

My plants are obviously very happy situated here, with plenty of sun, shelter and water. And I remember to water them because I fill up the dog water bowls regularly for our garden birds to enjoy a nice bath!

So interesting. My wife had succulents for years and if I remember correctly, some bloomed with little purpley flowers. Most, however, just seemed t sit there.

      Thank you πŸ˜€
Yes, I have found the same thing. I have one lovely succulent that blooms with many tiny purple flowers every year, but all the rest just sit there getting fatter, but no flowers! πŸ˜€

I just checked this afternoon – and I think I missed them! Ooops!
What is left looks a bit like small gone-to-seed dandelions and didn’t photograph very well!

I am always happy when anything blooms in my garden – but especially when it has done nothing for decades! haha πŸ˜€

Yes – it was – But I seem to have missed them, because when I checked the plant out today all that was left was little tufts sort of like tiny dandelions gone to seed! haha πŸ˜€

The mystery plant! And a beauty at that. Maybe your plant just decided it was time to show off for you! I’m curious to see what those “buds” are going to produce. The late bloomers always outdo themselves.

It was very weird! Sadly I seem to have missed the flowers, as when I looked this afternoon there are only tufty little things gone to seed, a bit like dandelions.
Oh well, I’ll have to catch it next time – 15 years from now! πŸ˜€
