A little treasure
Hidden in a winter pot
Surprise! Spring Freesia
.
Most of my few surviving freesias are yellow, so it was lovely to find this solitary red one popping up in an abandoned flower pot; providing a welcome warm colour in our most changeable season.
One day the sun bakes down ferociously, then the next temperatures drop rapidly, with driving rains and howling winds.
Throughout it all, this brave little freesia just keeps on blooming.
Lovely Sci, so much warmth in these captures!

Yes – Our coastal area is known as The Cape of Storms – so it’s not always blue skies . . . But mostly! π π

What a beautiful flower and such a vibrant color. It looks fragile, but is obviously anything but. Mother Nature always amazes us.

Yes life is fragile but there is so much beauty in the world if one just stops and look. I guess the lesson is to enjoy the beauty while you can. Thanks for sharing this beautiful species with those of us in the other half of the world.

haha I wouldn’t worry too much – Spring is always early down here and I’m sure you’ll have many warm days yet – before autumn. π
