Oh Hi There!

Sparky 1 Says Hi

Haiku 240

Hello there my friends

Just popping by to say Hi

It has been a while

So you might have been wondering where I’ve been?

My old laptop suddenly had serious issues and it’s taken me many, many hours to back everything up and sort things out. I had to revert to an even older laptop. Then I pestered my husband to upload the stuff I use, and generally get the computer up and running how I like.

Yesterday I finally got my act together and was ready to blog.

On top of my laptop problem, we suddenly had power cuts again; up to 3 in 24 hours, meaning no electricity for up to 7 and 1/2 hours in one day. I have no idea how my milk survived without turning sour, but was very thankful that it did.

Then our refuse was not collected; for days. There is only one collection a week, now that we all have big wheelie bins. Not ideal in a hot country! Apparently, there were truck repair problems. They do work extra hours and weekends to make up the backlog, and they are always cheerful, but it still meant the rubbish was piling up. Though we ourselves have very little actual refuse, I’d filled our bin up with garden clippings, and was wondering if I’d have to remove some of this to make space for actual rubbish; but then they came. I was surprised how happy this made me!

Sparky 2 Wassup?

South Africa also continues with Lockdown; now at day 306! During that time, we have moved from the severest restrictions, when not even allowed to walk your dog, to less severe and now back to somewhere in the middle. Alcohol sales are once again banned; the final nail in the coffin for the wine, beer and restaurant industries. There is a curfew from 9pm to 5am and we are not allowed access to parks – or the beaches. You can imagine how hard that has been during our very hottest summer months. SA also seems to have a second more serious Corona variant, though I am sure many countries will have more than one variety.

With the constant underlying Corona stress and all the rest, it is no wonder I find myself walking round with a clenched jaw!

Dealing with the following:

Corona virus, special edition

No power

Rubbish piling up

No alcohol

No laptop

Sparky 3 Hanging in there!

But like Sparky clinging on to the grape vine with two little paws, I’m still hanging in here!

And I hope you are too!

Love your Sparky close-ups and I’ve definitely wondered where you’ve been!! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that I don’t know how you handle all the additional issues on top of the pandemic and lockdown. I lose my mind over computer issues and power outages on a good day and have discovered with the daily problems of life that my patience and energy to deal with them is definitely not the same. I’ve also been walking around with a clenched jaw this last year and recently have been getting earaches to go along with it. I hope your alcohol sales resume soon because the only cure I’ve discovered is increasing the alcohol content in my wine and so far 14.5% has helped. We’ve had some things shutdown over the last two months, but starting next week they open up again and between that and the Covid variants, I hope things don’t get out of control again. Take care and I’ve missed your poems, photos and humor!

I am surprised at the long lockdown in SA. Not much news to hear of runaway high numbers of infections from SA and wonder why it is in lockdown for so long! Plus what??! No alcohol? Hmm…please hang in there like Sparky!!

Soooo happy to see your post this morning. I was really worried about you. You sure have had a plate full of problems, but they seem to be sorting out one by one. We’re still in quarantine here, and have new variants of the virus invading the US. A big obstacle here is getting an appointment for the vaccine. And in the part of NY where we live, there isn’t even any vaccine available yet. So, like your other readers, we remain patient, and wait our turn. Somebody is always first, and somebody is always last.

You couldn’t have chosen a more perfect subject than Sparky for today’s post. Looks like he’s practicing his aerobatics, perhaps for the Olympics! This little guy is too cute for words. I love the way he’s looking at you making sure you’re capturing each pose! Since when did squirrels become hams? πŸ€— Those photos sure brightened my mood on a VERY cold, gray day…..with snow coming soon. Aaarrgghhhh!

I hope all your electronics and electricity stay up and running. Keep safe.

    Think positive. Test negative.

Aw Thank you so much for missing me! I already feel better. πŸ˜€

We don’t even have vaccine in the Country yet, so it will be many months before my turn comes around.

Sparky always gives a great photo shoot – he really just wanted me to feed him!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Thank you – I’m taking it one day at a time and looking forward to walking along that deserted beach again – one day! πŸ˜€

You too – Keep Safe Ginger. πŸ™‚

I must admit my smile was wearing thin! – But so many people have it much, much worse. I guess my Poly-Anna attitude just slipped for a moment there! πŸ˜€

Good to see a post from you, and Sparky is so photogenic!
The UK is in lockdown again, but our little town is buzzing with positivity as our elderly residents are being called up for their first vaccinations. We won’t get ours until March/April I think, so at present are being totally anti-social as well as socially distancing and avoiding everyone!!
    Keep safe Sci.

    Bless you Sci.
We wondered where you had gone, and got a little frightened.
Anyway a little bit of SA had made it to the UK
In the form of the SA Variant of COVID.
    Not your fault!!
    Still, we aren’t worried.
Just not going anywhere, or doing anything.
The good bit is it’s saving us money.

    Keep safe, you and family.

      Aw Thank you Paul. πŸ˜€
I suspect there will be many new variants hopping from country to country, till the vaccines get going and we all build up a little immunity.
Like you, I’ve found we are saving money just being home! πŸ™‚

Sorry to hear your news, but one must conclude that it is all for the best. Our politicians are still walking a tightrope with commerce at one end and our lives at the other! We live in hope that one day the proverbial light bulb will come on, and they will realize that a decimated population is not much use to commerce! Take care. Stay safe. Keep smiling! πŸ™‚
