Five Year Anniversary

Five Year WP Anniversary: 2000 Followers.

Well it’s five years since I first started this blog.

And I’m still here!

I have also just accumulated 2000 Followers.

Thank you to everyone who has joined me along the way and shared in my little blog of everyday life. Without you there would be no Mad Cap Dog!

Cheers, Scifi.

Oh Spam, How Hilarious Thou Art!

Freesia 1

Akismet does a grand job saving me from the worst of the spam comments, but I had to share some of my latest with you, as they are too funny!

So without further ado, let’s hear what Joseph, Leta, John and Verlene have to say! The highlights are mine.

Having read this I believed it was very enlightening. I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this information together. I once again find myself personally spending a significant amount of time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was worthwhile!*

*Oh thank goodness for that!

Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite justification appeared to be on the net the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people think about worries that they plainly don’t know about*. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects, people can take a signal. (Say what?) Will probably be back to get more. Thanks.

*How can you think about something that you don’t know?

Edited – What blog platform do I use?

I had to ask! Greetings! Very useful advice on this particular article! It is the little changes that make the biggest changes! (??) Thanks for sharing! I like what you guys tend to be up too. Such clever work and reporting! Keep up the superb works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to my blogroll.*

Thanks to my father who told me regarding this weblog, this blog is genuinely amazing.*

*Why Thank You! How is your father, by the way? I have no idea who he is!

Most of these spam comments are attached to an old post or very often a photo! And they bear no relevance to the actual content of the particular post.

Well, I hope they amused you as much as they amused me! If you have a spare moment, why not check out your own hilarious spam comments? Have fun!

Happy New Year 2019

Sunrise 2

As the sun sets on 2018 and rises on 2019, I’d like to wish my WP friends all the very best for the coming year.

Thank you for your friendship during this last year and here’s hoping the coming year will be a good one for you all, with health and happiness.

Here’s to a great 2019.

Cheers from Scifi and Little Monkey.

Happy New Year!

I Am Four!

I am Four

Four years old

Well it’s four years since I started this blog. Time flies when you’re having fun!

Thank you to everyone who has popped by my blog and liked or commented on a post. I thoroughly enjoy visiting your blogs, reading your interesting posts and marvelling at your awesome photography.

I really appreciate the interaction and have found the WP community to be friendly and caring. I have come to know many of you well, even though we have never met, being separated in many instances by vast oceans, and I count you as my virtual friends.

I received so many incredibly kind comments on my 1000th post the other day; Thank You all very much. I don’t expect you to comment again now! It is a pity that my 1000th post and my 4th WP Anniversary did not exactly coincide, though they were so close!

Also I don’t mention these little milestones to garner praise, but rather because so many rotten things happen in life, that I feel we should always celebrate the positive things; even if it is only the minor achievement of a WP notification!

1000 posts

1000 Posts!

Muizenberg Beach

This is my 1000th post!

It has taken me very nearly four years to get here, but as the saying goes, it is the journey, not the destination, that is important.

As long as I’m having fun, I’ll keep on blogging.

And a Big Thank You to everyone who has joined me along the way. Without your company my friends, there would be no point.

Over 100! – Shaggy Dog

Funny, but you can never gauge how ‘popular’ a post is going to be!

I know that I will get more likes if I publish a photo of food or a flower and that any posts and photos about Little Monkey my dog will fall way under the radar.

That’s fine!

I long ago decided to Blog for Myself!

Yes, I realise that might be considered selfish, but you have to ask the question, “Why am I blogging?

For me the answer is a resounding FOR FUN!

I don’t expect to generate income from my blog, so I don’t need to worry about what is popular (thank goodness!)

And I figure, if I am not having fun, how can I expect any readers to enjoy themselves?

So, regardless of the statistics that WP is so fond of broadcasting to us, I post what I find interesting. If my Readers also enjoy it, all to the good. If not, no worries; I had fun writing my post.

I put a great deal of time and effort into many of my posts; editing photos and supplementing the text with links to other info. Still, none of this matters in the real world!

I am a small blog and my posts usually get around 50 likes; sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more.

My most popular post is (to me) a more boring post about afternoon tea, entitled Decadent High Tea. OK yes, the cakes did have gold leaf on them, but still – it’s tea and cake for Pete’s sake!

My dog posts usually fair the worst of all, in ratings.

So imagine my surprise on finding that a recent post A Shaggy Dog Story of my dog Little Monkey after her bath was now my second most popular post in January!

This is unheard of!

Decadent high Tea has 85 Likes

A Shaggy Dog Story is sitting at 82 Likes

Sooooo close!

Oh I’ve just now got to 84 Likes on Shaggy Dog! This is so exciting!

Further update.

Shaggy Dog has toppled High Tea and now stands as my Most Liked post at 90 Likes!

Whoa! Shaggy Dog is now at 95 Likes! What happened?

NEWSFLASH  Shaggy Dog has reached 100 likes!

Final tally as of going to press: Shaggy Dog has 114 Likes!

Wow!  This is great news. Little Monkey is overjoyed!

Hooray! 🙂

This poses further questions; such as why is the post still being liked many weeks after it was published? This is unusual for me, unless it is a topic that people might be expected to search for, such as Winter Solstice for example.

Perhaps WP has been putting my post out there, for some reason?

I have no idea. But Little Monkey and I are very grateful to each and every one of you who popped by and gave Shaggy Dog a Like.

Thank you!

Happy New Year 2018

As the sun sets on 2017 and rises on 2018, I’d like to wish my WP friends all the very best for the coming year.

Thank you for your friendship during this last year and here’s hoping the coming year will be a good one for you all, with health and happiness.

Here’s to a great 2018.

Cheers from Scifi and Little Monkey.

Happy New Year!

So, apparently I have a “Leet” number of WP followers.

What’s Leet when it’s at home anyway?

It’s an alternative alphabet for many languages that is used mostly on the internet. (You can read up about it here on Wiki if you like.)

What do I think of my Leet WP trophy?

The same as I thought when I got 1000 followers, which you can check out in Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder.

Basically (because I realise no-one has the time to look up an old post) only 5% of my followers actually follow me. But that’s fine, because those that do are great friends. And that’s what it’s all about: the interactions, not the numbers.

Thank you all for being here!

Still, it’s always nice to “win” something!
