I’m Always Walking With You

In The Wilds 1

Wherever I am girl, I’m always walking with you; I’m always walking with you, but I look and you’re not there.

– Cat Stevens, How Can I Tell You

I walked down to the library the other day.

On leaving the property I turned left and continued along the road to the end, so I could see clearly down all three roads before I crossed; checking for dogs.

At each road side I stopped and waited for you to sit, while I checked for traffic.

Once along the way I saw another dog across the road behaving badly; leaping in the air, circling the man, chewing on its lead. He was a massive dog that looked like a cross between a Ridgeback and a Boerboel and was way out of control. I instantly thought to check you, so you would not freak out.

But I look and you’re not there.

I first heard Cat Stevens sing this lovely song, How Can I Tell You, when I was a student. A housemate had the LP and I would play it often when they were all out. It doesn’t refer to someone you knew who is now gone, but rather to someone you never met, but the sentiment is the same.

Anti-Valentine’s Day

Day Zero Rose

I don’t “Do” Valentine’s Day.

If I love someone, it’s every day.

I don’t need companies selling expensive cards or heart-shaped chocolates to make money out of me. I don’t condone roses being sold at a higher price today, because now they are in demand!

Still, I know from past years that most of WP will be full of gooey Valentine stuff.

That’s fine!

But here’s my contribution.

David Bowie singing Valentine’s Day.

hehehe

(Still miss you David!)

Yes, I know I’ve posted David before. But really, he beats all other Valentine’s Day offerings hands down!

This one’s for you, Pix.

I saw this large cuddly toy lying forlornly on the floor under a seat at Heathrow T3.

All I could do was pick him up, surreptitiously hug him, and place him in clear view on top of the bench.

No-one came to claim him in the hour or so I was around that area. I guess they rushed for their plane and in the melee he just got left behind.

Hopefully he was adopted to be loved by some other child.

Love is . . .

Old Mr SL sleeps!

Old Mr SL sleeps!

 – On the Inside!

Old Mr Spaghetti Legs doesn’t look so hot when asleep! But I love him to bits anyway, and I think the feeling is mutual – certainly when I have a treat in my hand!

I don’t ‘do’ Valentine’s Day and consider it a commercial money-making racket. If you love someone you don’t need to spend extortionate amounts of money on one particular day to prove it!  And there are many very eloquent posts out there in WP land if you want to read more.

However, why not listen to a rather different Valentine’s Day song –

Valentine’s Day by David Bowie

David and me – ageing gracefully together! (ahem)
