I find that we become reflective as the year draws to a close and we look back.
Friends have passed. So many celebrities were lost this year and even as I write this, another has gone. In my own small world I lost three family members within two months; two people and Mr Spaghetti Legs.
New friends are made. Families welcome new members, babies and pets and life goes on.
There were bad times and good times.
Yet I wonder if our memories are like the photo above, distorted by a heat haze?
Or are they even more warped; not by a heat haze, but as the picture really is: an upside down reflection of my apple tree in the swimming pool!
Our memories are usually distorted by time and selective recall, often painting the past as rosy.
But I don’t think it matters if our memories are factual or not. Whatever they are, each one is now a part of us.
Wishing you all the best for the New Year.
