If it ever got below freezing in Cape Town, this early morning dew would be frost. However, it rarely gets below even 10C in the middle of winter, so all we get is heavy dew.
I tried to capture the colours of early morning sunlight reflected in the dew drops, but failed.
Afterwards I wondered if the blues and yellows I was seeing so clearly were maybe due to the refraction of light in my thick glasses!
But perhaps if you squint a little, you can see some colour in these spangles?
post script: Many places in SA do get well below freezing in winter, and get snow too. When I lived in Johannesburg, it was minus 8C one night, and the fountains froze in town!
post post script: A spangle is a small sparkling object, drop or spot.

I rarely have a chance to see spangles…I guess it’s because I can’t wake up too early in the morning…Being able to see it from your photos made me excited to push myself waking up early 😀 Gorgeous capture Sci! ❤

I still expect this dew to crunch underfoot like frost – it often looks solid like that. 🙂

Amazing that it can get that chilly there!

Yes. I think because Johannesburg is so high (6000 feet) and so far inland, that affects the temperatures, just as CT is mild because by the sea. 🙂

Lovely photos. The blue of the dew contrasts nicely with the green grass. Spangles were also fruit flavoured boiled sweets 😉

haha Yes they were! I found that out when I googled the word 🙂

Is that like frost I see? If so it must be cold in SA!! It is a great shot at these tiny “droplets of dew” 🙂

It would be frost if it ever got cold enough in CT. Plenty of places in SA do get way below freezing though 🙂

Interesting as I always thought CT/SA had “warmer winters”. Thanks for enlightening me 🙂

Cape Town does have warm winters, but South Africa is massive, so other places, such as Johannesburg, which is 1400 km away, have a very cold winter. 🙂
You have given me an idea for a long overdue post on SA! 🙂

It would be nice to have warmer winters here in America. I like your dew on the grass. I want a place to live that is 75 degrees in the daytime and 55 degrees at night, year round. No snow for me. Ha No such place!

It might sound funny but I do miss the icy bitter winters of N England! I miss the seasons. In CT it is either winter (4 months) or summer (8 months)!

I love this image. Soon frost will replace our morning dew.

Thank you very much 🙂
I see from your post today that your autumn leaves are beginning to fall already.

Most everything is still very green. But on a walk yesterday morning I spotted several red and yellow leaves on the ground. It’s subtle, but it’s starting.

I love to hear about your weather, I’m jealous! Today is expected to feel like 39C and our winters have reach -40C. I love my country but sometimes it’s hard.

I find it fascinating how the seasons appear at different times all round the world. In Europe they are still very much in summer.
We are still in winter, and we don’t really get autumn; it sort of goes straight into summer!
Canada does have extremes of weather! 39C I can just about deal with, but -40C!! Brrrrr!

Thank you – I am not alone! 🙂
But I do see that my photos looked quite blurred courtesy of WP! They don’t look like this on my laptop.

I read on my phone. . Photos are small, but they tend to look better if there are any small oppsys in focus. I didn’t notice!
