If it ever got below freezing in Cape Town, this early morning dew would be frost. However, it rarely gets below even 10C in the middle of winter, so all we get is heavy dew.

I tried to capture the colours of early morning sunlight reflected in the dew drops, but failed.
Afterwards I wondered if the blues and yellows I was seeing so clearly were maybe due to the refraction of light in my thick glasses!

But perhaps if you squint a little, you can see some colour in these spangles?

 

post script: Many places in SA do get well below freezing in winter, and get snow too. When I lived in Johannesburg, it was minus 8C one night, and the fountains froze in town!

    I rarely have a chance to see spangles…I guess it’s because I can’t wake up too early in the morning…Being able to see it from your photos made me excited to push myself waking up early 😀 Gorgeous capture Sci! ❤

    Spangle, I like this new word,feels like of a poem 🙂 I looooove the pics of dew 😀 And that too on green grass 😀 😀 Walking over them early morning has been my pleasure few times , it feels amazing especially when diffused sun rays come around…. 😀

      Yes. I think because Johannesburg is so high (6000 feet) and so far inland, that affects the temperatures, just as CT is mild because by the sea. 🙂

        Cape Town does have warm winters, but South Africa is massive, so other places, such as Johannesburg, which is 1400 km away, have a very cold winter. 🙂
        You have given me an idea for a long overdue post on SA! 🙂

    It would be nice to have warmer winters here in America. I like your dew on the grass. I want a place to live that is 75 degrees in the daytime and 55 degrees at night, year round. No snow for me. Ha No such place!

      It might sound funny but I do miss the icy bitter winters of N England! I miss the seasons. In CT it is either winter (4 months) or summer (8 months)!

    I love to hear about your weather, I’m jealous! Today is expected to feel like 39C and our winters have reach -40C. I love my country but sometimes it’s hard.

      I find it fascinating how the seasons appear at different times all round the world. In Europe they are still very much in summer.
      We are still in winter, and we don’t really get autumn; it sort of goes straight into summer!
      Canada does have extremes of weather! 39C I can just about deal with, but -40C!! Brrrrr!

        I read on my phone. . Photos are small, but they tend to look better if there are any small oppsys in focus. I didn’t notice!
