Help WP! Nobody Likes Me!

Rose

Rose

My Blog’s a bit broken!

I discovered last night that the Likes button has disappeared from the bottom of my posts when you visit my blog. If you click on the title of each post, then the Likes appear again.

In my Settings I have WordPress.com Likes On for all posts.Β

As far as I know I haven’t changed anything. (Maybe my extra long post yesterday was too much of a shock for my blog!)

I wondered if anyone else had encountered this problem and if so, how you fix it? I can’t remember how to contact WP for help!

I have deleted the cache and all cookies and un-clicked and re-clicked the above button and saved the changes.

No luck.

Any and all suggestions are most welcome.

Thank you.

Good you got your likes back. I can’t find this setting you mention in your next post “show buttons on front page”. πŸ™‚

Thank you. πŸ™‚ I like puzzles to be solved!

I work from the old Dashboard. Below are the details of where you find Show buttons on front page.

In your WP Reader, Top Left, Click My Site

This takes you to your Stats page.

Scroll down on the left to the very bottom.

      Click WP Admin

The Dashboard opens up in a new page.

Scroll down on the left, to the bottom Settings

Hover over (or click on) Settings and you see a long list. Click Sharing

Scroll down. You should see – Button Style, Sharing Label and then Show Buttons On

To the right of this are 4 boxes. This is where you tick

Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results

      Posts

      Pages

Beneath that is the option WordPress.com Likes are and I tick On for all posts.

I hope this is what you were looking for and you can make your blog look the way you want. Good Luck! πŸ™‚

I can see your Likes on the Reader but not looking at your blog with my laptop. Recently I noticed that the Likes disappeared from my blog. I can only see Likes on the Reader. I have not made any changes. I think it is a change made by WordPress. They are not happy unless they keep making changes πŸ™‚

Thank you very much Laura. πŸ™‚ That is exactly what I found also. I have managed to fix it – details in my post today. Maybe yours is just as easy to fix? Good Luck. πŸ™‚

It happened to me a couple of months ago. I didn’t report the problem, likes came back a couple of day later. Is it working now?

Like is still there for me, sometimes things do go a bit odd for a while. I had some odd things, but they seem to go right in the end. Of course it might not have been you at all πŸ™‚

Thank you very much. πŸ™‚ Yes, often these little WP glitches do sort themselves out, but you feel so powerless in the meantime. And if it is anything to do with computers, I usually assume it’s me! πŸ˜€

Ah Thank you for that. πŸ™‚ I haven’t changed my theme like ever, but who knows what goes on in WP land behind the scenes. πŸ™‚ I should play around with my theme and see if it helps. Thanks again πŸ™‚

Thank you for letting me know. So far it seems just to be me and another blogger in America, I think. So not as bad as I first thought. πŸ™‚

Ah.. the mysteries of WP! πŸ˜‚
Right now I’m having similar issues with my ‘rate this’ star widget. It’s MIA on my computer @ work (on both IE and Chrome), however I see it just fine on my phone and at home (Firefox). I did the same, clear cookies, cache, restart… no avail! I did contact support, but they’ve not returned am email yet. Intermittent issues are the worst. It works on chrome at home, but not at work. It has got to be a personal problem IMO with our ‘puters and our respective issues. Sadly! Here is your proof your likes exist for us… this is my app reader. https://midwesternplants.files.wordpress.com/2017/02/wp-1488028198140.png

Thank you so much πŸ™‚ – And for your link, tho I believed you without it. πŸ™‚
Everyone so far has said like you that they see my Likes no problem. So it’s just me and that one blogger who I think is in America. Unfortunately, I do not see my Likes on my blog posts when scrolling on any of my devices, on Chrome or internet explorer. It is only a little thing, but you never know where it might lead!
I hope you have luck with your ‘rate this’ widget. Could you tell me how to contact support please? Or is it just for the paying customers. (I’m free.) πŸ™‚
Thanks again for your support. πŸ™‚

PS I have just fixed it! πŸ™‚ There was one more box in Settings to tick (Show buttons on front page) which for some reason was un-ticked!
How that happened I don’t know.

But thank you very much for your input – and Good Luck resolving your issue. πŸ™‚

Still no LIKE button when I first clicked on this post, but following your suggestion, I clicked on the title and the LIKES appeared (I’ve noticed the same procedure must be followed on several of the other blogs I follow). Anyway, one extra click is no big deal, so “all’s well that ends well” (I borrowed that from Shakespeare’s blog). πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to go back again. πŸ™‚ If it weren’t for you telling me about my Like problem, I would think it was just me, as many other bloggers don’t see the glitch.
And Thank you to Shakespeare! πŸ˜€

Oh Thank you very much πŸ™‚
There is another blogger out there experiencing the problem with my blog, and a few others, so maybe I am not alone. πŸ™‚

Great Minds think alike πŸ™‚ I did wonder the same thing, but the other blogger – who is Still unable to see Likes on my blog unless he clicks on a specific post – is in America I believe. He has found the same problem with a few other blogs as well, so I hope, if I am not alone, maybe the glitch will eventually be fixed. πŸ™‚

I’ve found and ticked the like on this post. I’m still here and chceking back to make sure I’ve read all your recent stuff as I was ‘unfollowed’ for some reason a little while ago.
I can’t remember how to contact the happiness engineers either. There have been a few visual changes in the summaries and stats pages so someone’s been tinkering recently. Good luck!

Thank you very much for letting me know and for “checking up on me!” πŸ˜€
I don’t know why you were unfollowed either. Once I found I was no longer following my own blog! Now and again I’ll wonder why I’ve not seen someone in my Reader for a while, only to find I am no longer following them. Glitches!
So I don’t hold out any hope for my Likes button to miraculously reappear on my blog.

I’ve checked back on a lot of your posts and the like button is there loud and clear. Have you tried checking your blog without being signed in? I do this sometimes to check if linkages work properly for anyone just visiting via a search engine.

        Aw Thank you so much!
I have looked at my blog on different devices as a visitor and when I scroll down the blog I find no Likes.
If I click on a post and then subsequently click back or forwards from there, Then the Likes appear!
I had discovered this last night and then another blogger also told me they had wanted to Like and couldn’t find the button.
It’s not a big deal, but then you start wondering what Else is going wrong!
Thank you again for all your time and effort. πŸ™‚
